Contrary to what I wrote before I visited the page of PD3200 and it shows enough interesting. If it works as it shows then rather it is for a appreciable appliance .

Yes It's a great project and I'm very pleased with this unit. All claims on that site are true. (air tests, discrimination).
Note that delay time of this unit is quite long +-25us.
I use it (attached to logger) primarily to screen out ferrous targets from magnetometer surveys in suburban areas but it should work well for treasure hunting too.
Attached is the result of logged scan of curved metal tube, with two coins inside. (this was done by Krasnimir - constructor of PD3200).
Do not like to post untrue informations..
The delay time is around 50us..as this detector was built for coins and bigger targets. But Krasnimir can adjust PIC hex for faster sampling if you want to.
hello.
I have built PD3200. But it doesn't go to DISC mode. What is the problem??
In PCB, J12 (to which CLEAR and MODE bottoms are connected) doesn't work too.
Would you please help me??
Regards

Hi, dear Mahdi, why you are looking for discrimination? don't waste your time or nerve for this, if detector be powerful and able to detect metals accurately and precisely is enough. mostly discrimination is a mode for weak detectors or at least can tell is a mode for weak searching. if you look for deep targets should search in all metal modes and accept to dig for all metals. e.g. my ordinary PI which is introduced above, has no mode to search in discrimination after search in all metal we go for determining if is precious or not albeit is not high reliable unless for superficial targets.
or in our second PI which is unique and can't find it markets (made by US military industries) and is much more powerful than " Luminous", basically has no discrimination, it only beats metal unmercifully.

if you want to use PI detector with a discrimination between Ferro / Non Ferrous Metal ( the best for ignoring junk ) for medium depth UP TO 4 MetersSSP 3000 from Detech is a good choice
the ability of Pulse Star for distinguish between Ferro/Non Ferro is week and the lorenz (Deepmax LP5) is very bad is absolutely depend on target size for example the Target ID for Gold in Deepmax vary between 0 and 100% !depend on the target size (means nothing ).

Aziz,
Eric Foster made a true PI with a balanced searchcoil which could discriminateover twenty years ago. The problem is that the reactive component suffers from ground effect. Using filters such as a motion VLF will result in a major reduction of depth over a regular PI. In short it has been done and may well prove to be a method for the future once the problems involved with such designs are solved. The dream is to find a reliable method of making a regular PI discriminate like a VLF using only a mono coil.
