  • Tony's Bandido II website

    Hi there,
I haven't decided to register, yet as my main interest is electronics and how things work, rather than primarily detecting. This might change, however, as a friend has just bought a Minelab Explorer II and I get the feeling I'll be roped in to do a bit of detecting.

However, I hope someone can provide a link for me that seems to have vanished into the ether.

I'm looking for some technical details on concentric coils, used in a lot of detectors and have a link to "Tony's Bandido II" website, that now appears to have disappeared. There was a fair bit of coil detail on that site, AFAIR.

Is Tony's site still active and if so, would someone please post a link to it.

Failing that, any link to pages giving details of coils, construction, etc. would be much appreciated.

    Thanks, in advance,
    Sandy

The thing is does the Ether really exist.

And would you not be better off making a 2D coil for the Bandido. Concentric coils are favoured by most manufacturers just because they are easier and cheaper to make. For a bandido coil I would wind two coils the same shape about 140 turns .31 wire. For an 8 inch coil 2D coil.

      Hi Delbert,
      thanks for the reply.

I'm really more after the "how does it work" side of things, rather than trying to mod a working unit.

Tony's site had a fair amount of useful information on it but I, foolishly, didn't take the time to either print it all off, or download the whole thing.

Thanks again, for the reply. Anyone else out there know where Tony's website has disappeared to?

      Thanks,
      Sandy

I agree, Tony's site had some good info. It was at http://www.ionet.net/~tgomez, but this is dead now.
