Personally, I've never considered a lifetime warranty to be very realistic. I wonder if Tesoro will still be willing to repair Mayans and Deep Search IV's in 2025.
I recall that the old Bounty Hunter (pre-Teknetics era) offered a lifetime warranty. It's now worthless.

Oh my.
This could be bad news. not so much for the warrantee,
I perfer one that doesn't break to start with.
As in built well using qual parts.
If they are smart, (are they smart? hello? are you
listening?), they will buy em
but leave them alone on the building end of things.
1st Tex could be an asset at marketing, but will
generally want to market a larger volume of, I will
use the words, less costly detectors. I hope the
qual/performance doesn't suffer. Fisher has invested
some years into their product line and this hopefully
won't be thrown out foolishly. foolishy. foolishy.
They should listen to Fisher.
Just because you own them
doesn't mean you are smarter.

yea but think about it for a few minutes. one buys a detector for lets say $795. and they have it for 5 years then one day they cant get something to cooperate with it. they send it back to the factory and for 50 bux including the shipping it gets fixed. compare that to our cars that we spend 10s of thosands on and put 10 bux a month in maintanece and every 3 or 4 years 500 in tires and brakes and so on and so forth. the detector is still the better investment my jeep has never found me gold rings or silver coins . i never took much stock in a lifetime warranty on anything save for my craftsmen tools. its a piece of machinery we expect to put money into our cars we have to expect the same of our detectors. they get a fair share of abuse ... toted around in car trunks (not me i have hard shell cases) out in the sun or cold going from an air conditioned house to the outside, going from the cold outside to the warm inside i mean last time i has a detector repaied it cost me 48 dollars for shipping and all. the detector was 15 years old. i dont think it is unresonable. lets hope that the companys do not lose thier sense of customer responsibility and start to over price repairs. if i recall that detector i got repaired for the 48 got a new touch pad and brand new coil! try to buy a coil for 40 bux brand new anywhere!.

So, you get a 5 year warranty as standard and, if you want a lifetime warranty, it is available at additional cost.
That is still a better deal than nearly all the other manufacturers including Whites, Minelab, and Garrett -- none of which offer a lifetime warranty at any price.
