New article on coils

I've just uploaded an article called Coil Basics. It predominently covers IB techniques.

Those stacked coils look wierd as well as the figure 8. For VLF, the standard will remain the concentrics it seems. The Tesoro PCB coil may open up a more precise way of giving a coil a higher level of perfection. Wonder if anyone has ever experimented with anything besides wire windings for a coil. Nice write-up and very informative.

I have been following the forum anonimously from years (from 2002 as I remember), and I haven't participate up today.

Do you remember that in one post is said that the better shape for rectangular coils is 3 to 1 (or perhaps 4 to 1)? I don't know the reason for it, but in the next issue of the article you couls include a reference to it.

As a continuation of the last post,

So, in the article anything is said about shielding. I know that a book can be wrote about this topic, but I am sure that you could include all the fundamentals in a new issue of the article, or ..... better, you could write a new article about it and, as you are a real "encyclopedist", you could reduce the "book" to an interestig article with all the fundamentals.

Carl, sorry if I give you more job, but the articles (induction basics also) are excellent

The 3:1 ratio has been brought up on Eric's PI forum, I think by Eric himself, as being optimal.

I'm hoping that another forum visitor will follow up on my article, with an article on advance PI coil techniques, including shielding. He has indicated a willingness to do so.

I would like if there is another article like this one with several practical projects on coils, with details on number of windings,radiuses etc...
I can contribute with data collected so far on some coils...
