  • Here is a tricky one for the experts.

I was trying a MP5 detector which is defined as a VLF detector. It has a motion sweep feature. It is bloody outstanding because it has nothing of those painful potencimeters. tune sen, ground etc...those sadfully painfully threshold sound.....etc... It is extreamly good. I can understand sticking automatic scanning of the signal whilst in motion....But this machine has a pintpoint mode that is absolutelly something from another planet. I has an analogic audio output when in presecence of metal that can detect a coin in exccess of 14 inches in sand. And this no VLF can do as far as I am concerned. It is unbelievable the way it detects and this signal appears something similar to a PI machine. Only it is a VLF....I has a VLF concentric search coil. Never beforea had I seen such electronics... Anyone can tell me about this design? How is it it called and how is it made?
    Hope anyone can help me.

AFAIK, it's a made-in-China detector. My limited experience with Chinese detectors is that they have decent depth, decent target ID, and a response delay that makes pinpointing next to impossible. However, I strongly believe that Chinese detectors will continue to improve, and will be competitive with low- and mid-range US detectors.
