Look at me, all logged in and stuff!!! The dirty seedy underworld business of copying cookies from another computer to my one made this feat of computing possible.

Sadly, it's not all that great. 90% of the 'buttons' are non-functional, hence why I can't edit my prior post, the edit/quote/flag/like buttons are there, my pointer changes to a hand when I hover over them, but they do nada when clicked on. Likewise, I can't add any attachments, or type fancy text stuff. It even breaks ( badly) when I submit the post, the entire screen goes blank apart from some unhelpful one-word message in quotes at the top-left of the screen. Clicking the back button thankfully returns me to the previous thread view. That's technological progress, eh.

The unhelpful message is in fact: {"NodeId" : 409255} quite self-explanatory, you'll agree. For the benefit of anyone curious as to 'how to copy cookies': Both source and destination computers run Firefox. Use the 'Web Developer' tools, select 'Storage Inspector' . This shows the cookies in all their gory detail; name, expiry date, value, domain name etc. You can directly edit the values, by double-clicking on them, and you can cut'n'paste them, to a notepad .txt document, for example. The two cookies that matter are bbuserid, with a value of 6036 (that's me), and bbpassword, with a long string of Hex digits. Copying all that stuff and retyping/pasting into my own PC, making sure the expiry date is 12 months away, seemed to be all that was needed. I refreshed the webpage, and magically I was logged in. I don't know if it will last 12 months, time will tell.

Yeah, this is on Firefox 50, which is almost the most recent Vista-compatible release. I will try and import the Firefox cookies in their entirety into the Opera V36 I recently installed ( individual cookie tinkering doesn't seem to be an option on Opera : ( ) The cryptic message isn't important, the post gets submitted, regardless. This very 'lite' text entry box I'm stuck with for posting is lacking even the 'end of line' function. My prior post had several 'return' presses in it, breaking the sentences up nicely on my screen. When I submitted it, it just became one wall of text, as you can see. Pfft. Cracking the login hurdle is a modest step forwards, I can at least view the attachments to people's posts, for one thing. But is sure is irritating ... the previous Forum version worked pretty OK even without scripting turned on. I could log in, post, add attachments, view attachments , no js needed.

Firefox: Logged in ok. Seems to be working fine.
Chrome: This site can't provide a secure connection. geotech1.com uses an unsupported protocol. ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH.
Opera: This site can't provide a secure connection. Unsupported protocol. This is likely caused when the server needs RC4, which is no longer considered secure.
Skippy - maybe your problems are more related to Vista, which was always a piece of junk.
By the way, everything works just fine in Linux Mint with Firefox.

Wierd that you got XP/Vista to work. Even VBulletin's website: https://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/...orted_browsers .. states Firefox70 is needed for VB5 ( and I think that means the first VB5 release ), and I know Firefox "V52.9.0 ESR" is the most recent Vista-compatible release ( and XP supposedly works with V52, if you have all the 'service packs' installed ). That page is where it states Opera V27 is OK for VB5 ... but it doesn't seem to be, based on my V36 experience, it's going to get another trial, though. [br] ^^ I just tried a bbcode 'line break' there , wonder if it will work. [br] Folks do like to say Vista is rubbish, but one thing it exceeds XP at is crash-resistance, my previous XP laptop was terrible for blue-screening / freezing up / generally a PITA.

If you meant "threat" then you will need to clarify, I don't know what that means.

Hello Carl, is there a forum setting for mobile phone users that don’t need to zoom out every time i enter on different pages in portrait mode. Landscape mode is ok, fits exactly on the screen. Thanks
