Well lets see, I guess its been over 6 years ago 1st Texas was working on three new machines for release. According to a post on one of the forums that host Fisher machines one of these machines was to be a game changer (like the F75 was). Being a loyal Fisher hunter I waited 1 1/2 years and nothing was released. Knowing some of the usual tester I had to inquire why the great delay. They, having limited information they could share stated (Understand the limited part because I had the great privilege to be a tester for the Eurotek Pro before they were released to the public), the engineers have run into unforeseen problems and no one knows when the final machine might be ready. So I went ahead and purchased an Equinox 800 just to satisfy my need to learn another machine and have fun doing it. I'm still a very loyal Fisher fan because of the Pro Arc I continue to have and use which is exactly like the F75 LTD except the face plate cover. I said all this, because I hope, at some point in the future, 1st Texas has another game changer.

The LCD is de-laminating. This is common for LCD's as they age. High temperatures and mechanical stress can speed the process up. It turns black because the polarizing layer has separated from the glass.
Unfortunately there is no fix other than a new LCD.

Mark is right in wondering what happened. After all, 'NASA-Tom' Dankowski did once state that he thought the Fisher multi-freq machine(s) would be ready by December 2012:\\ https://www.dankowskidetectors.com/d...?2,22311,22311
