  • tesoro outlaw quick info please

I have a very simple question...

the Tesoro Outlaw detector is a microcontroler unit ???
I have opened mine to make a modification and i found no microcontroller... I'm confused... my tesoro silver umax does have a microcontroller on it..

cannot edit my post... I found on the net that maybe the tesoro outlaw is the remake of bandido II, if someone can confirm, thank you.

no data on the pcb. if you give the pics i could to seek and compare then with other tesoros. bandido II is fully analogue.
if you see uMAX in a name it is either with small board in SMT or done with PIC chipo. in first case it is old model, second new/last one.

      pleasure

I also assumed the Outlaw used a micro but I don't see one. The layout is physically different than the Bandido II uMax but I'll bet the design is almost identical.

thank you. Carl is sure right. i did not find similarity with other boards. however i see its circuit is complicated. it has 4 lines/channels.
some kinda like oldie Inca, Pantera, Royal Sabre. without microcontroller, clear analog circuit.

              me too

somewhere I found that the "uMax" logo/name marking the microcontroller units but I'm not sure about that.
In the Silver umax you have it written on the control box (just google for it): SILVER uMAX MICROPROCESSOR VLF DISCRIMINATOR

maybe does the Mojave is analog too ?? It seams that tesoro remake some "old" full analog models.

For the detector itself I can only say good things it is an amazing machine... If you there is a coin no doubt he find it... pull tabs and bottle caps produce a very distintive sound with a pronouced attack and sharp decay.. I often dig everithing it sound "double" even if the sound is "discriminate" because they are ring shaped object so.. why risk to loose something good.

No, uMax was applied to all the models with small housings. The first was the original Bandido uMax, which had a ceramic hybrid board with printed resistors. There were several uMax models before they added micros.

                    Tesoro Electronics
                    Band 1.1
I bought it new 8 april 2019 622 euros new

thank you. yup, this is a hint on 'bandido' circuit... there is so small place for whole word... it was stripped off. so 1.1 is a revision of the board.
                      IMO.
maybe it was last version before they transfer to ceramic hybrid small subboard, that Carl told. so yup, it is Bandido, in the schematic.

And, of course, Spanish "bandido" translates to English "outlaw." Apparently Tesoro literally recycled an old design.

just 5 years gone we see first photos of Outlaw board... this is sure progress.
Need pics of Tesoro Outlaw circuit board and back of faceplate with switches etc if possible - Geotech Forums (geotech1.com)
