  • Why is technology focused on machines here ?

This site advertises as technology for treasure hunting but only focuses on machines. Might want to change the name to " Machine technology for metal detecting " Lots of other technology that is treasure hunting related to help a person get onto site and other things that would make a person more successful . You're going to be left behind like the Dankowski followers .

People are talking about what interests them. No one is restricted to discussing only machine technology, so feel free to discuss other treasure hunting tech.

They may be as you claim. Doesn't seem like there would be interest in other technology here. I was asking " why " as it doesn't seem that people are improving their treasure hunting results.

It won't help you to have a good bucket, a strong and long chain... if the well is empty and there is no water.

This over focus on technology has actually been bad for the hobby of finding treasure. Not that all technology is bad . If we look back at the time when Whites was around and Minelab and Makro were promoting technology, Whites seemed to think they had to get in the game. I'm assuming they wanted to make a profit, although I don't think they had the resources and/or desire to put enough commitment into their product. The MX Sport was a failure . This lead to numerous machines being out on the market with no one knowing ( or sharing ) which ones are most likely to leave a person with not only a worthless machine but much aggravation .

Of course there was a good chance to diminish such , but Dankowski's failure of a forum prevented that from happening when the opportunity arose. A rep from Whites shows up on the forum and we were questioning him and he just continued to lie saying he was going to answer question. Just a con man knowing Dankowski would give him a platform . I was pushing for a recall by Whites with Whites personally trying to get the machines back either by them or their dealers. Also a release of the serial numbers was requested by me. Sure, they would repair one under warranty ,but that was not dealing with the problem in the best way.

When others on the forum did not push hard for these things and pushed harder to keep me from speaking , the forum sucked and I relayed that fact. Dankowski allowed this to happen and was of no help and was a hinderance to
helping those he claims to have a forum for. But , as usual, when you get enough of these " geek " people together on social media the hobby of treasure hunting is damaged.

Clearly, there are many people with different opinions and affinities.
I would say "tastes". And you don't need to talk about tastes.
Everyone should find their own place that suits them best.
I'm somewhere between half and half when it comes to these things.
I primarily come here for technology.
The aspect of the search itself interests me less because my search here in my conditions has some specifics that are not present in most others.
E.g; I'm not interested in the search for native gold and nuggets, all these stories are boring to me... because I don't have such conditions here.
It's the same with searching on beaches.
Such topics on this forum would not interest me and I would not even look at them.
But I don't mind if there are present here.
Many different metal detector brands and models regularly pass through my house, workshop, and so on for years, now over 3 decades.
It is logical that I will be interested in the technological side of the story first.
But on the other hand, I don't like to see excessively abstract debates abundantly supported by simulations and excessive theorizing.
And there are plenty of such topics here on the forum.
But I'm not complaining, because there's room here for everyone. Everyone can find what they like here.
Precisely because Carl designed the forum that way; this forum is unique and will never die.
There will be periods of increased activity and periods of decreased activity, as it has been until now.
If the situation in the world improves, calms down, and we start to live peacefully and normally again, without anxiety in our hearts about what will happen tomorrow...
after some time the forum will revive again with many new members and the activity will increase to the level of before.

As highlighted, I doubt it and hope not. The reality of the situation and it can clearly be seen when you look at Dankowski forum , some are focused on self-promotion and only want to help those that kiss their ***. Check it out. While their site advertises that all metal detecting related topic are welcome they falsely advertise and shut down discussion, and allow others to keep the reality of many situation from being expressed . They consider it their house and their house has failed miserably .

That has nothing to do with the facts I presented. Time for you to stop trying to halt discussion when the facts and refences become clear.

Not what you said earlier in this thread -

" People are talking about what interests them. No one is restricted to discussing only machine technology, so feel free to discuss other treasure hunting tech. "

Don't use this forum to try to hide how technical aspects affect treasure hunting. Discussing what people actual did is not considered bashing .
