For days I have been trying to find direct contact with some enterprising Chinese, but without success.
Mostly I hit an impenetrable wall of petty officials who don't even have the most basic communication skills and their English is worse than Tarzan's.
I listed "countless" links from that famous "Shenzhen" industry... tried dozens of contact addresses... nothing, ZERO result!
It seems that the Chinese are content with their little pointless and ridiculous metal detector copies and have no ambitions for anything more.
And as long as it is so; until then, "western" companies will continue to have the main say in this industry.
I have a thing in my possession, a "project", that would make millions for someone who has a manufacturing program in China.
Unfortunately, this is not my personal intellectual product, but a clone.
In this case, I turned out to be a bigger "Chinese" than the Chinese themselves and successfully cloned a very expensive product.
I have no moral or ethical dilemmas about this, because it is a very special and specific case.

In a previous life I have had lots of things made in China from company designs ( not metal detectors ).

A. They are manufacturers and logistics ... not innovators.
B. You will have to check everything .. they will copy your errors and create their own "interpretations"
C. They will not invest their own money .. you want something .. you pay.
D. MOQ .... Minimum Order Quantity. It will never be economical to order "one off" item manufacturing.
E. To keep it keep your IP ( intellectual property ) intact ... outsource different assemblies to different manufacturers.
F. Load the firmware yourself ( ie not at factory ).

Having said that ... its still cheaper to make things in China than most "developed" countries ... where even the cleaner wants $39 / hour.
