The Equinox 900 was on order and I was expecting it every day.
But there were complications and a change of plan.
It's not about money this time, which is atypical for me!
I had to put it off for a couple of months.
Some unforeseen circumstances got in the way.
An additional reason is the weather.
Until the end of October, I don't believe that I will have the conditions to go out into nature with the detector.
So the new detector would just collect dust until then.
In the meantime, maybe something new will appear... we'll see.
But certainly Manticore or 900 are first on the waiting list.
I would like to suggest to the people at Minelab that all the functionality that Manticore and 900 have; they "pack" in a box that looks like a Vanquish.
There is no problem if it is a little longer.
The LCD does not have to be large and with excessive graphics.
It is important to "lower" the housing and bring the coil connector closer to the rod.
Minelab needs to get serious and realize two things:
    1) We don't all live in Australia where 1000 square kilometers is as flat as a baking sheet...
    2) That new fad with vertical housings and high mounted coil connectors is just.. disgusting!
    ...

As for me; the best Minelab case designs are on Musketeer Advantage, Sovereign GT and Eureka Gold.
They shouldn't have given up on that design.
It is a real "professional" design for all possible tough conditions.

You could have named the " https://onlinepethealth.com/the-dunning-kruger-effect/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect after a recent UK Prime Minister that did not last long. People don't know what they don't know then they want to tell the world about what they don't know but in doing just prove they don't know. LOL

I guess they were targeting areas where the terrain is very flat and where such a design is not a problem.
But what is easily noticeable is that the same design is now followed by many other manufacturers. General fashion!
A very impractical design from my point of view. Good only to hang on a wall in a collection.
It's a shame the performance deserves a little better "heavy duty" design.

              I agree...
Success in the search is "a stew with many ingredients and spices".
              1) Luck!
              2) Unexplored terrain full of finds!
              3) Experience and skill of the person!
              4) The detector and its performance!
              ...

              Now... here is my "fate":

              1) "Strike of luck" once every 3-4 years!
              2) There are no more such terrains in my area!
              3) I guess I'm experienced and skilled enough!
              4) I have a detector and it is not a problem to get any!
              ...

Conclusion: under items "1)" and "2)" are the decisive factors today!

              35-40 years ago...

              1) Luck! Not needed much.
              2) Unexplored terrain full of finds! Everywhere! Each one!
              3) Experience and skill of the person! Close to ZERO! Lot of prejudices too!
              4) The detector and its performance! ZILCH! Tough to obtain, close to impossible!

                    Sad days!
This is an area of about 100 hectares on which there was a settlement in the 4th century and later.
20 km from the first town, right next to a small village... which disappears!
The young people left for the city a long time ago, the elderly have passed away, the village with 100 houses is empty, there are barely 10 old people living there.
Fields are not cultivated, meadows are not mowed.
There is no one to do agricultural work.
I've been coming here for 25 years.
For the last 10 years, I have noticed that there are more and more neglected and uncultivated areas.
That is why it is impossible to find Roman coins today, because the land has not been plowed for years.
Nor is it possible to work with the detector in tall grass .
There are probably findings. But without plowing, the findings will not come to the surface.
Today I found one coin of "Constantine the Great" and barely, with the utmost effort.
A colleague with a Nox 800 found nothing. But that's why there are rusty pieces of iron everywhere.
Demographically we are dying out and disappearing. The land remains abandoned.
It's sad to come to one of your favorite grounds and see all this.
Vanquish 340 and Equinox 800 match 100% in VDI numbers, no difference and no deviation.
Both are very calm and stable.
On this same ground Deus 1 works very nervously and unstable.
Today was my second outing with the Vanquish 340 on the field.
                    The sun was hellish.
Years take their toll, and slowly I stagnate and disappear from such adventures.

I think all comparisons between MDs on YouTube and detectorists' reviews about one particular MD can be controversial and can not draw a line for you between what's good and what's not ! Simply because they lack to one key element in their comparisons or reviews. Which is the soil type, meaning that what suits others, does not necessarily suits you. I personally would enjoy watching\reading any review about MDs anywhere anytime, but I would only count on those, which were done in my region, to make my decision once and for all

Small update from yesterday. With a colleague who has Deus 2, we went out on a very rough terrain. I took my Deus 1.
All the immediate info I've had so far about Deus 2 has been negative, so to speak.
                          But yesterday the impression improved!
When the owner and user knows how to adjust the machine well; Deus 2 is slowly starting to impress.
                          My colleague had a 28cm coil and I brought a 34x28 coil.
All "targets" in the soil were found by both machines. But I noticed that the Deus 2 has a stronger and clearer response.
But I also noticed something strange!
Deus 1 is not accurate enough when dealing with deep irons... while Deus 2 is not accurate enough when dealing with shallow irons!?
But once again the old truth was proven for who knows how many times; machines like this definitely require a certain learning curve and getting used to it.
Given that Deus 2 has a noticeably clearer and stronger response to targets; I have only one question left: is it really deeper (yesterday we didn't have the opportunity and situation to check it) or is the signal processing just advanced to the point that all signals are "amplified" by the machine?
I wouldn't have thought this way if I hadn't had an FT16000 sometime in the past that had a click-clack switch for Audio with 3 positions on the front panel: Boost, Normal and Enhance.
When the FT16000 detects a target in soil and the audio response is "thin", unclear and weak; by choosing between these options, that response suddenly increases and becomes much clearer.
I wonder if Deus 2 used the same method? But this time the algorithm in the code decides by itself when to boost the response of the detector.
Merely burying targets for such testing will not give a realistic picture of performance, which is why we didn't do it yesterday. The idea was to compare machines on real soil with real targets.
But whatever the real truth is, yesterday I was finally convinced that the Deus 2 is a very good machine after all and that the initial negative impressions are wrong.
Mere statistical citing of examples is something I leave to others to do. I do not deal with statistics, but only with the essence.
Deus 2 has skyrocketed on my "most wanted" list since yesterday.
Now I'm waiting for an opportunity to compare Deus 2 and Minelab Manticore in the same way. So far, I don't have a single acquaintance who has a Manticore.
I will have to wait for such an opportunity.

Something else happened yesterday that once again confirms some of my "theories" that I have written about several times on other topics.
Both machines worked rock steady for the first couple of hours.
But as the day progressed, the sun slowly moved from east to west and after noon we were directly exposed to the sun's rays; both machines began to chatter quietly and produce chatters.
Deus 2 ran at 14kHz and Deus 1 at 7.6kHz.
On my previous field trip with the Vanquish 340; this was not happening.
The 340 remained calm and quiet throughout the day.
These are some "small" details that I pay quite a lot of attention to when doing a machine evaluation.

In the end, I say the essence of my trips and tests like this; I am trying to observe and recognize the differences (real on real soil with real targets) between two of today's most interesting technologies: Multi-F and Multi-IQ.
Because I have always been an angry opponent of testing on a prepared testing bed with prepared targets. Such tests do not give a realistic picture of the essence truth.

I believe that the answer to my next question is probably present somewhere in the forum, but it is very problematic to search the forum.
I apologize if I am asking a question that has already been answered in detail. It is about the following:
I'm debating the pros and cons of buying an Equinox 900 or a Manticore.
As a serious user I am not overly interested in the various "bells&whistles" that Manticore has.
I'm only interested in the bottom line.
Manticore has a search head with 3 coils. The Equinox 900 does not.
What is the advantage of such a search head?
