  • Project ETI 566 - Enquiry directed to Carl-NC

This enquiry is directed to Carl-NC.

In the ETI 566 project there are three coils for which we use P18/11 pot cores. To wind the coils we need a 30-34 SWG wire. On the P18/11 bobbin I could wind around 60 turns of 30 SWG wire; there wasn't enough space to wind 200 turns or more (two of the coils should have more than 200 turns.)

    Any suggestions?

    regards

    Something doesnt sound right.
The bobbin is supposed to have an area of 7mm wide X 3.5mm high for wire, ie 11 layers of 23T.
#30 swg is about 0.3mm dia and you're only getting 3 layers on.
Maybe you're doing it just by hand when it should be a neat "machine" wrap ie with a drill of some type.

Hello zumi77, actually the wire gauge would be 34SWG, here in my country we use "AWG" which corresponds to 31AWG, I used 30AWG because I couldn't find "31", so I didn't use the 18/11 potcore, but rather a 23/17 (I couldn't find the 18/11, otherwise I probably would have used it). But if you use 34SWG wire, you can probably wind the 200 turns.

I don't know anything about this project. But if you scramble-wound the bobbin you will lose some capacity, you may need to carefully layer the windings. If it still doesn't fit, use a smaller wire gauge.
