Hi folks love the page so far, I want to design my own coils for the Minelab gps 6000 pi machine. I know my learning curve will be steep but I’m ready and willing, can someone please point me in the right direction for the best book/books I’ll need to complete this project?

The coils for that detector have a anti cloning chip inside, so making a coil is more complex. Detectormods has a youtube channel where he explains making a adaptor for using differnt coils. Search YouTube "gpx 6000 coil"

Awesome thanks for the heads up, yea I heard all 6000. Coils require a chip from Minelab

The first thing you need is a donor coil from which to get the security module. Otherwise, making a DD coil is not all that hard. Other than ITMD, I don't know of any books on how to make coils. It's loosely covered in some magazine projects, and discussed a lot here on the forums.

Thanks for the heads up do you think realistically if I was to study itmd book + strip an existing coil that I could replicate one?

I don't know what your electrical & mechanical skills are so I can't say. But it's generally possible.

topicstarter can put/solder the module inside the enclosure on socket pins. so he will get a possibility to connect any DIY coil of any size, without the module in a coil.
