If you have really light terrain..the detection range of powerful modern detectors on 11"-13" coils should be really large..
detection of such a target is possible at a depth of 40cm and more..
Here it also depends on what target you are looking for..very low conductive ..low-conductive, medium-conductive,, or high-conductive?..coin size?. Because the working frequency of the detector can have a certain degree of significant influence on the detection range..
Light terrain allows..for:
1...use high detector settings which have a great influence on the detection range..
2..light terrain attenuates the signal very little...and in the optimal case you can get such a detection range on the target..very similar to the range on the target in AIRTEST..

I am only giving these tests as an example...
In airtest I use coins of the same size but different conductivity to find out the sensitivity and range of a given detector and coil frequency.. on targets of different conductivity...
