I like your battery mod. The 9v batteries are expensive and don't last. I have an old CZ5 that I was thinking of using a boost converter and a single lithium 18650 to power the unit. But the converters can be noisy. So have not tried anything yet.

I also put a DC-DC Step Up converter which raises the voltage to 18v from 3xLipo 18650 batteries connected in series (11.1v - 12.6v).
It is important to note that I put the 1N4007 diode from the positive side of the battery to the DC/DC step up module.
And at the very output of the DC/DC step up module, I put an elco 470uF/50V.

This doesn't seem to bother the detector. Because I tried the detector on filtered bench power supply before that.
In both cases it works the same.
      Something strange happened though.
During the preparatory work, the detector gave strong chatters in the part of the room where my small workshop is. With bench power or with batteries, it didn't matter. I was a little disappointed.
I thought it was because of the added speaker.
I decided to check it out by putting everything together and taking the detector outside the house for a test run.
Even though it's deep minus outside, I planned to do it very quickly, just to check EMI and chatters.
However before that I moved the detector to the table (from the video) and to my pleasant surprise; the detector stopped with loud chatters and started working very well!??
So I didn't go outside with the detector last night.
Another thing that surprised me; without strong detection, while the detector quietly and occasionally chatter, current consumption is 20mA !?? I did not expect so little!
And when I set the "Sensitivity" to half; current consumption drops to about 18mA.
What is more important; chatters disappear completely. And the detector can stand like that for 20 minutes quietly and without sound (probably longer, I didn't measure longer than 20 minutes).
Unfortunately, I didn't remember to measure the current consumption when detecting with a strong audio response.

I will reveal here a little "trick"... in fact, rather; "discovery" that I accidentally discovered these days.
These cheap Chinese MT3068 DC/DC Step Up Modules are good in most cases and do a good job.
But with stronger consumers, they can often "choke", "strangle" and stop working immediately.
Nothing breaks, nothing burns, but they simply stop working and there is no output voltage.
A few days ago on another device I had that case.
By adding an elco with a higher capacity at the output of the converter; it didn't solve the problem.
But then I found that if I add a 1N4007 diode from the positive of the power supply (or battery) to the converter; this problem goes away forever and never happens again!
I expected the CZ6 to immediately "draw" a lot of current after powering ON (which in the end turned out not to be the case) and so I added a 1N4007 diode immediately to the plus of the batteries to the converter.
So this is a very effective "mod" that solves the problem forever.
Why is that, why does it happen without a diode; I have no idea, I haven't researched it in detail.

And yesterday I discovered another very interesting (phenomenal) thing on the bench!
          This is crazy!
While the CZ6 on the bench chatters a lot ... I noticed that the chatters happen in the rhythm of the change of operating frequency ... or (I may be wrong) in the rhythm of the operation of the demodulators!
So you can clearly hear in the speaker when the detector works at 5kHz and when it works at 15kHz !!!
Totally crazy! "Poor man's oscilloscope" method!

If you are referring to covid vaccines... I regularly received 4 doses of vaccines, but they were all Chinese.
And the last "booster dose" was Chinese.
Because I don't trust western "pharma" one bit.
Me and all my family members too.
My logic is simple; will anyone in China be so crazy as to risk the lives of their 1.2 (+ 300 million outside of China)
              billions lives so easily?
Second, I am "from those days" when vaccines were considered one of the greatest achievements of human civilization. I still believe that today.
Bad people do very bad things. A "stain" on the name of a vaccine does not mean that all vaccines in this world are designed to produce evil.
The Covid era, I hope, will teach us wisdom. But humanity must not give up a whole bag of apples for just a few wormy apples.
I see these days, everyone in the world is dusting themselves with ashes and now everyone is talking loudly about some kind of "big pharma" world conspiracy.
              I feel a little angry.
I would ask them all: "Where were you during that time when fascism was at work in the Western world?
When you were all as quiet as frightened little mice?
It was necessary for Mr. Trump to personally go public and expose all that cynicism and hypocrisy.
I always knew a few steps ahead, not because I'm clairvoyant (of course I'm not); but because I think soberly and healthily.
When I was among the first to say that Mr. Trump will do many great and good things; everyone laughed at me.
That was months before the first mandate.
Today, I can no longer see those smiles on their faces.
When I tried to soberly analyze the covid situation here on the forum; the vast majority remained fearfully silent, and "some" then called me a conspiracy theorist.
              Where are those mice today?
Time works for me and time confirms my words and my views.
But what do I get out of it?
So far I have only had a lot of personal problems and a lot of ridicule.
When I die; I will die very sad and disappointed in humanity.
Even now it can be comfortably said that I am a very lonely and deeply sad man who is completely disappointed in this life.
The only good thing in my life is my love for metal detectors and the hobby.

I went out for a little walk in the wilderness today.
                  Bad day.
Just a few prehistoric finds of little value:

Ukraine is currently developing a new AI based supersonic fighter-bomber.
I hear rumors that vital parts of this technological marvel were done by top experts from Lithuania and Latvia:

In the meantime, we small and poor Serbs are trying to keep up with the world.
The widely famous Yugoslav (actually Serbian) Yugo car (massively imported to the USA, although the Americans often made fun of that car) will soon see its successor.
If you don't know what a Yugo is; remember one of the "Die Hard" sequels with Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson and that crazy street chase in the Yugo!

                            I would agree that the old Yugo is probably one of the worst cars in the history of mankind (maybe it's not worse than the Indian "Tata", British "Rover" and a dozen more from developed countries)...... but there is one thing that spoils my impression;
although the worst ever: the Yugo never left anyone on the road.
Even when parts of it fall off along the way; the Yugo always got the owner from point A to point B.
                            And that's an undeniable fact.

Speaking of cars... do you know what the only two things are clearly visible from the moon?
                            1) The Great Wall of China,
                            2) Waste from Renault (and other modern French) vehicles!

KT315... watching the video you posted; I come up with an incredibly good idea!
I have to suggest this to Carl!
Carl should organize a competition to build the ugliest, worst and most pathetic metal detector in the history of mankind!
Let the competition last until the summer, and let the first prize be paid full board in one of the spectacular resorts in Afghanistan.
The second and third prizes can be vacations on the sunny azure beaches of the Gaza Strip.
What's more, this competition has potential because the forum is full of possible participants and such good prizes will be an unprecedented stimulus to win the competition!
Until now, we have had very boring and uninventive attempts to make the best metal detector in history.
                              It's so boring and uninteresting.
I think that the contest for the worst and ugliest metal detector in history would be a real planetary hit and that this forum would flourish from the influx of countless participants!

Even though my chances are very slim; I AM IN!
Carl... the rest is up to you!
                              ...
(I am all pale white from this boring winter and I would really like to sunbathe on the beaches of Afghanistan and hang out with the Pashtuns...)
