  • Measuring the noise power distribution of op amps

So I'll need a low noise preamp to raise the op amp white noise above the noise floor of my measuring instrument, right?

Can I use a PC based analyzer?

Multiple noise sources add as a square root sum-of-squares, right? So maybe I don't need to raise the op amp noise above the noise floor of my sound card? I can just infer the noise component of the op amp by noting the amount the noise increases. Right?
I could then compare with the datasheet specs of the op amp.

Of course i'll need a good shielded enclosure.
