I have a spot where there are many large civil war shells. I found one in the late 1970's, and a farmer plowed one up two years ago. For a fact, there were almost 2000 tons of shells fired in this area. I found my shell using a White's 6000, or a similar model. Two years ago I again visited the site and found a few fragments, some laying on the ground. I know that one person found 38 in one area. What I need is a detector with lots of depth. I built the Gradiometer designed by Carl, but didn't have much luck with it. I also started the Hammerhead project, but it was too much and I have limited knowledge on electronics, although, I did get it partially built. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea of a good market detector, that used with a large searchcoil, would give me depth to four feet? I don't want to dig much deeper than that. Right now I have a Minelab Explorer II and it is more designed for coins and jewelry rather than artifacts. I also have a Tesoro Tejon which is a great detector, but I am not sure of how deep it will go and if I can get a large searchcoil for that detector. One person suggested a detector from France, but I lost that information when my hard drive failed. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Possibly the TR-Locator (Two-Box Design), Below in this same section would do the job.

I'm now working on a Circuit Board for it.

I believe that you must try a PI with large coil. A coil 1x1 m is ok for this depth. Look at mdetectors.com for a PI detector with large coil at low prices .

        Hi jhettel,
have you the HH finished ? If so try to build a 1m*1m square coil for it.
Or build the delta pulse or XR-71 that are good. With a good PI and an 1m*1m coil you'll reach more than 4 feet for a big shell.

        Best regards,
        Max

          DEEP DETECTING

YOU NEED TO TRY A COMMERCIAL 2-BOX DETECTOR such as the Fisher Gemini 2 or 3. Whites and Discovery Electronics both also have 2-Box detectors. The Garrett has a Bloodhound attachment which makes it into a 2-box detector! HH Joe

detector gemini 3 is very falses signal on oxidations or minerals ground, the w 808 regular in automatic, the discovery 717 automatic is major, the garret have faults in white soils

                Two box MD

Hi detectoman, can you share that circuit to try it.
Tell us more about schematic, parts and hardware construction.
                Regards
                Nelson

Hola detectoman, es posible que compartas el circuito del detector de 2 cajas.
Nos puedes informar mas sobre el circuito esquematico, partes y detalles de su construccion.
                Saludos
                Nelson

If you are looking for a deep detector for relec

hunting, the Nautilus DMC-2b or 2a cant be beat!!

                    deep detecting

I have a really old two box detector made by Fisher which was manufactured about 1960. I bought this from a professional treasure hunter, Roy Volker, in the late seventies for $100. It used big bulky batteries and I bought a standard battery pack and replaced the old style batteries. I am shocked to find that last time I checked the Fisher two box detectors look almost like my almost 50 year old two box. I took it out a number of years ago but the stubble was so high I could not use it. It seems to work fine and still have the manual.

                          Here's a Babel Fish translation:

nelson as or habia said to you is a very full cable detector that I have hido integrating, I have made removing it many advances from others, like podria not to go to you or to make a diagram, the basico is the one that presents/displays in the section panel two boxs, despues adds to him many but complements, dejame to see if a day of these gives me to put to me to disarm it and to draw its circuit, I believe that for my serious nonfacil one given my occupations, and because it is not a circuit done on pbc but on preperforated tablet, for my is very dificil to draw up something in my PC, because I am not specialistic, single I am inovador that gives advances on the march, good as already habia promised to you in first chance I write you to your mail, please translates this for demas thanks now I am trying to make my own detector parabola of long rank, clear this segun my invention, the truth I do it little by little, since I lack but time a hug to all detectoman detectoman

You can sort of figure out what he's saying.
The bottom line is that he doesn't have a schematic, and it's basically been hacked together on stripboard.

Yes it is a detector with a lot of wires inside. I saw a photo of it. I liked the way who regulate the coils. He made better work at mechanicals, that at electronics. " Hi detectonman with your 2Box detector" .

my early old detector two boxs, is ahora new, is in constant evolution, has very much changes, most wires cables hahahahaah ,, most bateries 27 volts in total, 18 double AA , my new model, have signal box to box at 10 meters, mj , very stable, sound tac tac whit ic 555 and signal progresive leds, efficient regulation sensitivity knob, is one total detector spider, in future years, i improve discrimination hahahaaha mjmj

                              best regards
