  • Compass Metal Detectors ????

"End of an ERA" posting Again ??? Where is the compass metal detector website ?? Maybe they are finally out of business . I have not seen the website in 6 months. Another Great American Company Gone ??? Anyone know ?? If so we will have to Post some of their Schematics as a Sad Final Goodbye. If I Remember Correctly , some of their detectors were around 12.77 Khz . Eugene [email protected]

Not only is their website gone but also the main Compass forum. Too bad if the archives will no longer be available. Compass made some competitive units but were inconsistant in their performance because of components. I still have one of their 100 KHZ TR's. I noticed more than average detector problems that needed work on them to keep them going. Still there are some that no doubt will use them and be successful. I decided not long ago not to get any more of their detectors because of some of these problems. Sometimes it is time to move on to a product that has more stability. I wish it wasn't this way.

Looks like the webpage is generated on-the-fly using a java script.
If you enter "compass owners" in the search field, then it finds the forum ok.

13.77KHz to be exact. Compass are no longer in business, and if the Marshalls in Stringtown get their hands on these people they will be arrested for fraud too!! I sent $6000 worth of machines back for repair nearly four years ago. they won't even respond to my phone calls. So as I was once informed I was effectively Compass' representative in Europe, please fel free to post ALL the schematics you like.

I hear some Bulgarians have reversed enginered most of the Compass machines and are releasing them as units built in the EU. should be good to watch.

              Compass Metal Detectors ????

Sean , I am so glad you responded to my posting . Last week I recieved a couple of E-Mails . Some Detector Dealers in Europe Pre-Paid Thousands of dollars to Compass Detectors and recieved NOTHING !!!!!! And they asked me if I had any Schematics , especially the XP or XP Pro . We may see some schematics posted here soon . I wish the best of luck to the Bulgarians on their reverse engineering !! There is an old Steve Miller song " Take the money and RUN !!! " Sorry Sean on your loss of Machines. From what I hear your not alone. I am sure we will hear much more about Compass Electronics very soon . Thanks for your reply to this post . COMPASS METAL DETECTORS?????

When Teknetics went bankrupt, they pulled a lot of shenanigans like Compass also! I had a Teknetics S/T in their repair shop at the time! According to the officials it was either thrown in the trash or someone from the foreclosure bank took it! But basically once they went bankrupt, we could find no one who would claim responsibility for it and/ or anyone who would help us and/ or anyone who cared! It was like they washed all their hands from this situations and it wasn't their PROBLEM ANYMORE!!! This taught me to be very careful on who I sent any detectors to for repair. Because if they have a BANKRUPCY or if a KEY figure dies then their whole company can unravel at the seams and trying to get help over the phone during such a situation is almost INSANE!!!!!.............just my 2 cents..........Joe
