          can you re-post a schematic of a working TGS that you've built along with the PCB, parts and layouts? Following these, sometimes I am lost as to what is the latest, and best schematics. I would love to make one, but finding the right schemas can be very tricky now. Either that, or can you email me something that I can work on?


          can there also be a section where there's complete postings of schematics with PCB's and lists only that the moderators can only post to, so that we, the typical users, can find complete (working) details?

            Hi Milton:

            It is tough to weed through all the information and find a clear "kit" instructions.

            This is the best there is, compiled by Qiaozhi, for a popular version of the TGSL:

            I still find it a challenge to make a very good device. It seems the hardest part is making a very good coil that gives top performance. But it should be fairly straight forward to make something that works at least moderately well. It seems to require some dedication and enjoyment in building many models to finally make one that is great, although some people seem to have good luck on first try.

            Part of the fun is troubleshooting if your MD doesn't work first time you turn it on. A dual trace oscilloscope is really needed to see what you are doing.

                  Recently I have finish TGSL last one.I wanned to test each stage but after oscillator were in a hurry and solder all components respecting the article.
                  My problem is:when switch on there is detection and disc.But very poor sens only few cm.And when switch allm mode no detection at all!!!Damn I payed attention to each detail.Check several times for error-cant find.
                  So maybe bad component?My problem is that I solder all ICs directly on PCB.Except 2 X LM308/they have sockets/.
                  So can someone tell me where to search?
                  First suspect this mode switch.But test it and it looks ok.
                  When I took off LM308 that is near 1000m cap.,device have detection in both modes but no disc any more.
                  Now that no one can solve my problem from distance.Just tired to search for mistake.

                        Dual scope traces needed, show TX oscillator signal compared to outputs of U101 and U102 to start with.

                        Also try other coil, see if same.

                            All of them are important for this. One picture for each output, showing TX signal and one of the outputs on dual trace. Let us know volts/div for each trace.

                            It might be further in chain, but still should check these front end outputs first.

                            U103
                            pin1,2,3 0,00;pin4 -6,47;pin5,6,7;pin8 8,14
                            Would you check again voltages on pins 3 and 5 of U103? (the + input pins). They are not usually exactly 0 volts, although it is possible to null the coil to make that, or to turn the disc pot or the GB pot to get to zero.

                            Check that turning disc pot changes the voltage at pin 3, and turning GB pot changes voltage at pin 5. This assumes you have some kind of null signal at U101 pin 7, which I think you must if you get any detection at all, even though you measure zero (DC volts?).

                                Simonbaker.
                                So I try with another coil/DD22-TX=5,84mH;RX=6,2mH/.
                                Voltages are U103 pin3 -0,06;pin5 0,00.
                                All measurments were taken in 20Vrange DC volts.Disc mode
                                Turning disc pot change U103pin3 value.It starts from -0,06 and in the end shows -0,00.Turning GB trimer change U103 pin5 value also.Starts from 0,00 and at the end show -0,04.
                                But still detects 2cm nikel coin from only few cms.And no ALLM mode.No sound at all.Not even beep.
                                Have a technical problem with the pic-s.Will hand draw the diagrams and post them tommorow.
