I just spray the surfaces of the coil winder before winding. It goes on as white dry powder. Another thing that I have tried is coating the inside with beeswax. That seems to work OK too.

                Description:

Dave will show you how to build a coil winder like those available in electronics catalogs years ago from common, easily-obtained materials. Although it may look complex, it really is not. You'll find that it is easy to build. You don't need to be a mechanical genius, or need expensive tools. Yet this amazing little machine will professionally wind universal and honeycomb coils, single layer and multilayer solenoids, close-wound and space wound coils, and even pi-spaced coils such as used for RF chokes and transformers. This is a typical Gingery how-to book – loaded with illustrations, dimensions, and step-by-step text that is so detailed it almost holds your hand!

To hard to count how many turns there were. Shielding was like you said Graphite Paper. Also had a earth wire taped to the Graphite Paper. I didn't take a photo of it before I fixed it and glued it back together didn't think of it. Hope this makes sense to you. I don't know much about making coil yet still thinking about making one. I do have 14" DD Coiltec Coil that is a bit noisy I should cut it open and see if it is a easy fix as well if I do I will take a photo of it and put it on here ...
                          Note:

Apart from the Coil being Graphite Paper wrapped, maybe Graphite Paint, or Spray Paint, may also be used to coat the insides of the Coil Housing too (just an idea).

                          • Separate Thread

A lot of interesting coil and general info being added here -- but can we move it to separate thread when not specific to TGS?

In fact, would be interesting if Qiaozhi, Ivconic, and Max made a project to clean the TGS thread of digressions by moving them to other threads. It would be good to keep just a link to the digression that is moved because it is part of thread history.

Maybe this helps. Others can correct it if wrong.

If you don't like the direction the pots turn, just reverse the two outer connections.

                              This is for TGSFinal PCB.

P.S. It would be good to add a better drawn similar diagram (with coils, speaker, power supply added) to Qiaozhi's TGSL Complete Details thread.
