  • ok thanks guru
i will try make that coil

now i need help about connection VDI To TGSL Board how to wire that to TGSL PCB

    Comment

    • how to connect the cable

      from VDI pcb to TGSL

      on VDI Board have mark

      BAT
      +12V = ?

      + = ?
      8V
      - = ?

      Y = ?
      X = ?

      • TGSL EDU (from Silverdog kit) is finally all completed and assembled with coils
        RX 26 ohm 6,62mH
        TX 24,9 ohm 6,02mH
wound up on jig as desribed in manual
(isolated, than wraped in mylar - conductive side out (left 1-1,5 cm blank for break in faraday cage)
and plain wire wound for shield connection for both coils and as finish one more layer of isolation tape)

        connected two pots and switch
connected with usb cable to PCB folowing manual - grounded on coil and on PCB

        tested on bench
I have max 8 cm on 1 EURO coin in air if I place coils together

        when I switch to K2 i K3 connection I have no detection
        tried pots at various positions

ballancing is not very clear for me
my voltmeter has scale for 200mV AC but I don't trust it ... no oscilloscope yet...

can someone please explain functions of switch K1,2,3 and pot DISK.
if switch is on disk pot works and if switch is on all switch is doing ...

        • Explain what kind of a tricky switch with a resistor 10 k?

where to start checking the operation of the metal detector?

                  • I have compiled a metal detector on the circuit board laid out on the first page,
consumption of 60 mA when the coil is connected through the speaker is a continuous beep if you hold a coin above the coil then there are peaks at the target.

frequency coil TX 13k, the speaker is a constant buzz. in what could be the problem?Click image for larger version

                    • First thing to do is tidy your wires. There is no real need for coax anywhere, but you simply must avoid loops. Easy enough is to weave or twist the wires of same origin. Your coil connector jumper wires are ... well ... not tidy enough. And also a bit long. Be sure to twist them.

                      • Good morning, comrades, I made the wires shorter. 4.7 uF capacitor bi I have not found, made of two pieces of 2.2 uF + - +, in all metal mode device works more or less normally. If I turn on the discrimination mode of headphones constant beeping sound, which I can `t remove the variable resistors and so on. the frequency of the coil TX 14.20 kHz. consumption of 60 mA device. 7808 - in 10.88v, out 7.95v (power supply 12V 100mA)

Comrade, you now have a 1.1uF capacitor! Connect two 10uF capacitors in series instead, and tie the middle by a high value resistor (megaohms) to some high or low potential, or the capacitors will wear out. Then again, if it works, why bother?

I have a ceramic capacitors, 4.7 microfarads. I can use them in the scheme?

                            • Yes, you can use ceramic, but these must be really big. A simple and cost effective way is using non-polarised capacitors at 4u7 or 10uF pairs in series connected back to back. The reason for back to back is that electrolytes leak in one direction.

Do you think if I put the two capacitor 10uf + - +, MD will no longer buzz after turning?
this is the number one problem, I do not know how to solve it...
