      That's old post.
      And nothing is wrong there.
I would write the same today.
Today i have good dual channel oscilloscope.
But in the past there were periods when i didn't have one, bad or good.
So i used multimeter to balance the coils.
Some people disagree with my methods. Alright.
What i used back than; was to get original coil and perform the same method of measurements, write down what i measured, keep those records as reminder or reference.
When making new coil; i need just to replicate what i have in my records, simple as that.
That's why my method was successful to me. My coils were correct.
But if you don't have original coil; you can monitor RX signal after the first opamp and try to achieve lowest output during the balancing.
Any method you find on forum is good enough. Anything works.
Of course i would agree; using oscilloscope is the most "regular" way.

What utter nonsense, a meticulous man as you were, you must be have rna breakdown ( aka alzieme)
Tesoro is not min output, rather, min out with 21.23 degrees phase shift with respect to TX.

        • You lost your way.
Either you are totally deadly drunk... either you using some heavy drugs... either you are in terminal phase of some incurable illness.
Now you became a forum spammer too?
Illiterate of course, just look your words and sentences!?
Qiaozhi will have lot of work to do here...
          ...
How many Tesoros did you make so far?
You mindless baboon! Mixing pears and apples.
0 volts residual voltage at Tesoro coil is 22 degrees shifted phase related to TX.
Majority of diyers here will not have tools and equipment to compare and measure the phase, so the residual voltage is everything they can rely on.
Instead of Copy&Paste somebody else's posts; you better stop with heavy drinking and try to make at least one simple metal detector.
How many Tesoro detectors did you make so far? Poor creature.

                      • Hello,

I'm building the TGSL and I'm unable to buy the 24k resistor (R21), can I use a 27k resistor instead or may be better to use 2x 12k resistors in series?

                        Thanks!

                        • You can safely set the rating from 22k to 27k. This resistance equalizes the pulses of the comparator.

Correct. R21 value is not critical.

                            • I agree. It can be removed completely, only the front sides of the rectangle will be overwhelmed. This does not affect the operation of the device. If 4066 is used instead of transistor switches, then this resistance is connected to plus
