  • Hi,

ops... sorry... I forget writing the secret of assembly:

Che Guevara's cigar is mandatory during assembly...
and also an Ines Rivero Cd...running.

Lot of smoke... from a cuban cigar... kind of a fog!

    Hasta Siempre,
    Max

    • Sharp dressed TGSL!

Finally i got it! I have something to show up with!
These are prepared for TGSL's i am finishing now.
Notice; all of those are copies from originals.
Shaft copied from Troy Shadow shaft but a bit changed,
27cm coil copied from famous Bulgarian coil housing and
Eliptical copied from Garrett GTI Eliptical coil - very nice
housing and hopefully powerfull coil would be!?
      Nice work, isnt it?
Only detector housings not prepared yet....Sheesh!

              • Bravo Max!

                Bravo Max! Good job!
But i dont see Faraday cage there? What are you planing to apply?
                Al foil or something other?
                Regards!

                  Hi Ivconic,
yes you don't see it cause there isn't at now. It's a test for new numbers turns and alignment.

Of course is needed for the field use. At the moment I'm playing just on test bench with these... (at least for now)... that's why also I need not to waste too much time on these.

Last time I've used mylar/al to shield coils and worked pretty good... last OO12 is really nice with bandidoII but noticed that not so good also with TGS, and don't know why, so I'm doing this experimentation.

BTW you have done very nice work with TGSL housings/pole etc, really nice.

Have you find the LM308 ? Nelson provided a website that sell for 0.59$ each that's interesting price for consistent number of ic.

                  Kind regards,
                  Max

                  • why calculators serve nothing with DD coils

                    Hi all,
I've made a small test this afternoon ..tryed to simulate coil halve parameters on coilmaestro software and then realized the real halve using wire...

I already know that aren't good at all for DD so I decided using right that:
a DD halve... that is the same as dimensions and specs of Ivconic's last post

                    255x137mm , 100turns (the one for TX).

Ok... i've made calculations with coilmaestro and got the impossible value of
4.27mH for a round coil of same area of the halve I mean... obtained for a roundcoil of 206 mm inner diameter, wire 0.25 (30awg) and 100 turns for about 65meters length of wire.

Then I wounded it for real on a prepared wood support with nails... and of course results are quite different.

Got 5.62 mH inductance, giving me a freq. of 14.69Khz on TGS, R=23.1ohm !

Data from Ivconic are really accurate: I got just 90Hz difference from him... but difference is maybe due more to capacitors than wire differences!

So, if the coil is round the calculator is useful but for e.g. D-halve is very worse trying to simulate inductance using same area... error is too big.

I think there would be some general purpose calculator for shaped coils... but never saw so far...

                    Best regards,
                    Max

                    • Hi Ivconic,

Where do get your detector shafts and coil housings from?

                      Comment

                      • From local craftsman, i had difficulties to persuade 2 of them to make me those! One is already making TV antennas, sort of small bussiness, dealing a lot with Al pipes all sizes. Other is "plastician", making things from plastic....
But since i had not enough money, i oredered small series (10 shafts and 20 coil housings) so they hardly accepted to work on this.
With a lot of effort...nervs...finally i got it!
Next time i will be pushed to order at least 100 pieces if want to be done!? Sort of blackmale! But thats life...
                        Regards!

A Guy from Bulgaria sale coil housings at good price but i have problem with his bank number . So i want to buy 10 housings for my experiments but i can't send the money to him. If it will be possible i will tell you.

                              Ivconic,

THat's astounding. I wish you the best of luck in hounding, er, convincing your "almost" suppliers into providing your needs.

                              • Ivconic's 255x137mm DD

                                Hi,
I've started building this ...at first for test inductance but then I decided made the whole tx-rx pair...even if I haven't a suitable coil housing at the moment... anyway...

think maybe some picture could help someone that need to match that model of DD.

Last 2 pictures are related to shield material: comparision between mylar-al strip and al-kitchen roll piece. Mylar-shine but is too difficault to obtain and also wound... so I haven't decided yet what to use in this coil.

A picture is better than 1000 words ?

                                Kind regards,
