  • Hi,
    I've simulated both ways at 3 pot positions: 0.1, 0.3 and 1

Seems the 100pF way have much more degrees of range... but also 330pF give some adj maybe it's enough to disc foil.

Look... I'm in a hurry now.

    Kind regards,
    Max

I don't like a detector that work very good.... perfect but "from mistake". Today when i will finish my work i will give it a try again. Who knows......... Maybe Max find the right signal.... sinus or square
      My regards

Geo i do understand your points, simply, those are same as mine. If i dodnt want to fully understand how this works, than i would shut up,be happy with results i gained and didnt came here to talk....
Funny thing is that i have now 11 devices working perfectly "from mistake"????? How this should be explained? Never mind. Forget it.
Yes Max is right , we should establish first; what kind of signal p 1. must have? Sinus or square. Majority here adopted sinus. OK, i have toaccept this as reallity...I'll continue to experiment further...If some new things discovered i'll post here...

Max i think this is very correct, you posted. Come to think again; maybe "narrowing" range helped me to avoid falses completely? How about that?
Still, my device is detecting silver and gold same as was earlier...So it seems it is "wide" enough?

          • About square signals...i am planing to change main oscillator signal from sinus to square also. Good idea came from Dutch friends, adjustable 555 oscilator...
To be more honest... I already made it, and it is working pretty descent.
No that good as standard TGSL, but pretty good. Need some changes more to work perfect. Actually, these days i am working mostly on that...

            • I might be bugging here with dozen posts in a minute; but i will say most important thing now, and than shut up for longer period; main thing is.....and i will repeat; MAIN THING IS ....I already performed several tests with my devices on the GROUND, on real soil, outdoor, in different conditions, under different temperatures....and those are working PERFECT for real. This is most important thing to know. "Bench" testing means NOTHING to me. I can only respect outdoor testing.....Better to play some good RPG on my pC than some simulator...
That was all from me friends...Good bye!

                Hi Ivconic,
nice to hear you made also progress on osc section using square wave... the power delivered is more that way that a standard sinus but could be problems related to multifrequency jitters... anyway I'd like to see more news by you about that....and how it performs for real on soil.

About noise and disc pot... disc intervals ...I agree with you: I noticed that moving the disc pot (in TGS also moving the notch pot even with notch disabled) is possible finding "hot spots" where the detector is more and more unstable than e.g. at min disc setting.

All right about that, and maybe yes the reduced disc range (but still good as I see your writing) help reducing also this kind of problems.

I think that at particular phase shifts the "intermodulations" peaks sums and you can lost into troubles with erratic or similar to erratic behaviour....bleeping, I mean, at speaker: comparators start commutating easy.

I have to made some other tests about 220-330pF BTW at which capacitance value you run your very good performant TGSL with still good disc ?

I found good 220pF but 330pF gave me some problems yesterday.

                Best regards,
                Max

                  Hello Frends.

Some warning : The goldy rev. 3.2 gives more problems in piking up more external noise than the earlier versions, don't know why (yet) .
So if you want to make a TSGL (same as goldy) then make the version Ivica has maild in this forum, this version is working good.

                  Sorry !

                  Ap

                    Hi Ap,
thanks for the info. I'll keep in mind.

I want to make somethinh "clear"....
When i say that i dont like to have a detector "that works from mistake" i mean me, mine detector.

                        Hi Ivica. Thanks
But as you said it is 220Km far. I will come with Bus so it is very difficult.
                        Again Thank You
                        Regards
Btw it would be a good time to compare SS60 and TGS

I have 2 testing platforms, one with 220 and other with 330. You are right; one with 330 has worse oscillogramm, tend to saturate... But in depth testing, i cant see noticeable differences?

                          • One thing need to be explored more; nobody really payed attention when i mentione Disc. pot to be replaced with 10K? Not to put parallel but only 10K...I am not sure abut this yet. On bench it is working nice....havent tested outdoor..

                            • Hi ,
I am building a coil now from the diagrams posted here (by max i think), and to ahieve 14khz i had to wind 89 or 90 turns, (each turn removed rise the frequency about 200 hz approx). I would like to know how far away should be the RX freq ,to avoid complete resonance, to calculate how many turns i should wind-and if possible , why.
sorry if it has been posted before,i have read all posts at last once, but cant find it now amongs the 1468 posts
Will post pictures as soon as i have finished.I have found a nice coil form...Maybe this time i will finish the detector, i have built several but stopped when reaching the hardware part.
                              Thanks,
                              regards,

                              • Ivconic, i have been thinking again about nulling the way you do it with multimeter and capacitor, you achieve a good nulling but then you bring that big copper cable to connect the coils, dont you think it will totally ruin the it?

Also, if your soil has similiar mineralisation where you use your detector, why not to try to do the nulling on the ground, so you will have a perfectly nulled coil in actual conditions...
Just questions...i like to ask myself questions, but i dont have all the answers

By the way, i dont think we can achieve perfect results witout some theory, so the mixing of your expperiences and the theorical explanations of Qiaozhi is extremely interesting, i think he never meant to offend anyone.

                                Best regards,
                                Fred.
