Wow! This forum is full with various "Sherlocks"! Another one just joined the club!
"Are you sample" ???? What kind of question is that? What was the meaning of that question?
If you are satisfied with your mod - i am even more satisfied. No problem.
Still your mod is total nonsence; about to fool and confuse any eventual new builder here. But...who am i to judge? Whatever...don't worry, be happy!

My English is not so good, but your is horrible!
I am not spitting "at another people", i am just saying your mod is not good. Why am i saying that? Simply because i know. I already checked many simillar mods and do know what makes sence and what does not make sence.
Also; looking at White's Classic schematic and copying some things from it to TGSL does'nt make you enough smart and conversant. You maybe think you're smart - but you're not. There are people on this forum who already passed by the paths, which you are presently on. I feel huge sorry for you.

Hi, I am not discuss about schematics in total or partial module funktioning. If you are interested in signals and its time stamps you can use one of electronic circuit simulator. I am not in mood to do such things this time.

But if first green diode orientation is correct, then green zener is corect and pinki zener is unproper oriented. In case of use zener of 2,7V I can only suggest this solution (blue draving) for 100k resistor (of course R 50k can be 47k or something near this value) :

            • WM6...i think KT315 is right. Usuall drop at 1N4148 is 0.6-0.7V. So...to replace zener 2V7 there it is quite logicall to use 4x1N4148 in reverse direction (KT315 suggested 2 diodes??). But! This only, if there is any need to limit voltage, of course. Personally..i dont see a reason to limit voltage there. It is faint signal anyway. 1M instead 470K and 1M3 instead 1M in those stages really do rise level of amplification, but not maintaining proper linearity. Therefore suggested mod is a bit tricky and in most of cases it will result with instabillity on real soil. Further... treshold feature added there can help a bit to "clean" and limit audio behavior, but from my previous experiences i seriouslly have doubts that it will be enough to solve known TGSL problems with audio.
              WM6 - best regards, friend!

              • Sure that 2x4148 is not equal 2V7 zener. As I understand KT315 is not suggesting of 2x4148 use, but zener 2V7 in reverse ("pinki") orientation and this is not proper. Probably 2x4148 use is from original TGS schematic or some mod I dont know. So far I never dealt with this schematic.

Nice to meet you here in "america" friend.

                • Yes indeed, small missunderstanding we have here.

"America" is everywhere, where man can find friends. PM service is still availablle on "hobidetektori" forum. So...anything You want just write there. I'll be glad to hear from You. I am there every day, checking pm's and advertisments..
                  Cheers!

The lunatic is in my head (c)

I say - your schematic is WORKING TOO. but why you use Zener if Zener is WORKING as the equivalent of the diode in your schematic? GET BACK TO LEGENDARY CLASSIC-TESORO SCHEMATICS and do not draw wheeze.

                            • All metal signal

Can anyone explain the shape of the All Metal disc signal for the TGS? It is not square wave, more like triangle wave (square wave integrated by capacitor).

I notice that JFet capacitance is more important than 15 pF (C11). If disconnect C11, it is still like triangle wave.

Why did Tesoro want this? Would square wave work as well?

                              -SB

PS - I checked to make sure JFet not forward biased - voltage is positive at source pin (if nulled signal is chosen appropriately).

Simon I think W. Lahr schematic is pretty accurate. Changes already noted (2-47Ks <4.7K>, 150pF<15pF>, and 100K resistor from LM 393 pin5 trace error) I only see two other differences:

                                1) 220uF cap on 8v line (right after regulator) So there is one before and after regulator!

2)The 1n4140 is missing on the one of the LM308s. This is interesting because it is on the (Lahr) schematic but is not on original PCB. So everyone thought this was just mistake on Kurtie100 pcb. This unit was produced after spring of 1986. Golden Sabre first came out in 1985. This is Rev C PCB, so if this was mistake they had plenty of time to fix it. I think also maybe makes no difference at all in performance.

Like I said before Kurtie100 component drawing (and PCB) is very accurate!

Parts are as per component drawing TIS75, 2222A, MPS13, LF442, etc.

Audio circuit (after LM35 is as per Schematic, 16 ohm speaker is LOUD!

Put Freq counter on Tx output tonite.....13.985 kHz with original 8" coil. Will try also with Tesoro 10.5 concentric coil I have but need to do some soldering to connect it.

One time I will do pains taking schematic check, maybe during long winter.

Next I will try 10.5 coil and DD coils, maybe few days.

                                Molzar
                                Hi Molzar:

                                1. Were you ever able to remeasure the TX frequency of your Tesoro TGS? Your first measurement was 13.985, but you had question about meter.

                                2. Can you measure the resistance and inductance of the 8" coil RX and TX coils?

                                3. Can you confirm that the RX capacitor is 15 nF on the actual PCB?

                                I would greatly appreciate it.

                                Regards,

                                -SB
