Hi Max. You can buy coil housings from "Hays Electronics" or from mdetectors.com....from Bulgaria. Mdetectors.com has 32cm DD housing (very.good), 32x22.cm Oval concentric housing and....(i dont remember). The prices are very low except the delivery. Any way is a good choise if you will buy 2...3..or more housings.

I'm in Europe like you, ehm...not Mars...but have lot of iron stones around...like in Mars and also much bricks fragments...you know.
Actually I must deal with them...on promising search fields cause there is much environment contamination.

In other places near me there is no contamination at all...but seems that places are less promising and never found anything good there but some small eur coins and similar stuff.

I'm looking for coil housings...but smaller than 36x22, I'm looking for 8'' and 10'' but can't find anything apart hayselectronics out there.
It's strange !

There is one other possible solution. Purchase a second-hand coil (or even a complete, possibly non-working, detector) from eBay, then dismantle the coil and re-use the shell. In the past I have dismantled a Garrett coil, but had to destroy the lower part of the shell. However, this is easily repaired by covering it with a coil cover, and glueing it in place.

yes could be a solution e.g. for concentric where is more complex to make the container/housing. I've made some for DD and monocoils before...but all are ugly and weigth is also an issue.
My last DD coil weight is about 400gr that is a bit heavy as search coil I think. Weight is due to epoxy but also plastic I've used is involved.
I need more epoxy there cause I need to make rigid a flexible plastic container ...not only fix the coils inside...and that is a problem.

Test are not performed at the same day and as much as possible same time.
There are few months between testing different sort of detectors.
How such test can be objective?
Not speaking about others different conditions in tunning, programing and equipping out single apparatus.
