  • Building a powerful flux generator

Hi folks, I would like to build a REALLY powerfull transmitter, running at about 1 or 2 KHz, with something like a meter diameter coil with as much wire as i can get and shove as much current through it as possible, probably from the domestic supply. Any suggestions for a circuit? What sort of switching gear could be used (doubt a 2N3906 would handle it!).

Your ideas and suggestions would be warmly welcomed.

    Thanks J.O.

    Hi,
I suppose you mean continuos wave generation...if so
some e.g. push-pull that uses power bipolar transistor could do the job.
Also a mosfet bridge can do...but require much care on design to avoid distortion and other side effects. I think that any good low distortion BF amplifier with some watt of power can do this very well.
Good effect could be done by npn-pnp paired BJT like MJ3001 and MJ2901.
Just you need to use some small preamplifier with say gain 20 on voltages for every transistor to avoid too distortion and then giving right polarization on final stage.

Much like older small power guitar amplifiers...knows what I mean ???

    Best regards,
    Max
