I remember reading about a discriminating P.I. {with photo} made in France, and it had a meter and ellipitical loop. Does anyone have a link to it?

I'm a bit sceptic on that topic...cause I've seen many other md that claim to be pulse induction with disc before...and all they failed to do any good disc.
E.g. also Goldscan4 in early years was claimed to do some kind of disc.
I've built it...and disc simply doesn't work like ones expect for the price of that unit on the market--> useful only to avoid mineralization but disc is another story.
There are many others like pulsestarII and lorenz ones that claim to be disc units...but disc is weak and only way to know what the metal detected could be is dug it ! I never rely on that disc claims on pulse induction too much.
I think that could be possible to do...but requires too much computation to be integrated on actual machines and cost of one could rise over the budget of a rich detectorist quite easy this way.
Actually the best disc PI can only "disc" when targets are "small" or "big" ...but not explaining exact dimension of objects etc cause conductivity is involved...so one have to dig holes to be sure!
Any vlf could beat that disc quite easy and with much better disc !
We can wait for more info about this last detector to figure out if it really works that way or if it's just another false advertised machine.

Max

Dead on Discrimination
So far the only near perfect discrimination I've been able to find in Geophysics books is Spectrial Induced Polarization which uses .001 and say .1 hz for the 2nd frequency for comparison. It too measures the phase and amplitude and it's determined by the grain size. Couldn't imagine how big a nugget it would take before it would see it though.
Do a google search on SIP and Valhalla. He sent me a copy of his thesis from Norway, pretty nice of him.

Hi,
yes package is very good...beautiful case...etc ...good presentation.
I don't know if it disc so good like a vlf...or better...I'm just a bit sceptic on topic cause I've seen many claims before...Much advertising on this world of metal detectors...and few are real good machines...that can do what is presented in their brochures ! I think mostly at minelab devices and few other brands ...of quality devices.
Who may say before testing it ? Most other claimed Pi with disc...works too...on work bench in controlled conditions...etc...but is the real search field the real work-bench for that devices !
As an example : I can't have signal on work bench with bandido II umax and iron-wires (also much of this) but then yesterday I've found a blob-of-it ...at 10cm...in ground ! Cause e.g. some interaction occourrs too e.g. rusting of it and other stuff related to chemistry...
Result is: I've detected it ! at 10cm depth ! Sounded like a good target in disc mode! Probably there is a different phase shift respect to the work bench tested wires...
I think we can wait for real tests ...and maybe some patent to study principle of operation and examine differences with other previous devices.
Best regards,
Max
