Does anyone know how Bounty Hunter Discovery 1100 performs?
This because i have a friend that whants to trade this detector, but i dont have any idea how is performs.
I dont what to much deep, but i do want something that can reject iron and good ground balance. Some said that this detector is shipper, but have good discrimination and pinpointing regards the price. Others said that is comparable to tesoro detectors, but that has less depp (1 inch less)

I also have the oportunity to buy garret ace 250, so which one is better?
    regards
    Nelson

      ACE 250

      Thanks Satel
Yes i knew something about BH detector but i just whant to make shure.
Also i m looking to Garret ACE 250. Most guys said that is a good machine.
I read a few post about it, and regards is not to deep 6 inches maximun, it has everithing i like, discrimination, notch, ping pointing, custom notch, you can reject or accept diferent kinds of metals and so on. In conclusion, it has almost everithing for a metal detector that cost less than $200.-
In this unit i dont care about deep, 6 inches will be ok for most finds on parks, yards, beaches etc.
      Regards
      Nelson

PD: i also made my own detectors, but i want to have a digital vlf and easy to use

          ACE 250

Ok, that´s nice deep for that detector.
Today i finally buy Garret ACE 250. Has most people said, is a nice machine, very good discrimination, notch also very good, pinpointing good, you can search in all mode and the detector emits diferents sound, depending on what you found, also there is an icon, that shows you what kind of metal you got. In resume a nice metal detector to have. This weekend i ll made some deep test, but on air seems to work has the factory saids.
Construction of this unit is solid and gave me a good impresion of durability.
          Regards

Maybe its Time again to open this post "WIDE OPEN" !!!!! A great opportunity For Modifications !!!!
Today I saw a Discovery 1100 on craigslist.org for $30.00 dollars . I also read on another forum that some Radio Shacks across the country Here have had this on Clearance for $29.95 !!!!!!!!!!
As far as I know they are NOT "Discontinued" yet so we can not post a schematic yet , and I think no one has one yet anyway !!!
But we can take one apart and show "HD" pictures of the circuit board for educational purposes . Only the Tracker IV model circuit board has been done so far !!!!! If you have Clear Circuit board photos of Radio-Shack Discovery 1100 , Please post them !!!!!!! And I wonder if this is this 1100 is identical to Bounty Hunters "Quicksilver" ????? As you can see on the bottom photo , someone stuck on a BH 8" or 10" coil , which could make a huge difference in depth....PLEASE POST CIRCUIT BOARD PHOTOS OF THIS "1100" MODEL , THANK-YOU !!!.. IMPRESSED

I have used a few detectors...mostly the "older" white models. They are heavy...lots of batteries...with sporatic "luck"
I got the 1100 yesterday at a second hand good will....$29, brand new condition....even the 2- 9 volt battieries installed. Went to a local park, within an hour I found $1.80 in change...6 quarters 3 dimes -all of them in the top 2 inches of turf.
I am IMPRESSED with this little "TOY". Ease of use, light weight, simple setup...turn it ON and GO. IT WILL discrimate to find the good stuff...quarters/ dimes with a higer tone and LCD pointer.
It will find SILVER and with some additional X ing will narrow the find to a 4 inch field.
I am confidant this little guy will pay for itself in no time. If you want to have fun, really finding coins, and not paying tons.....this is the model. The manual is an easy download from the internet. I am going back and increasing sensitivy.....I'm sure there is way more silver I missed. Happy Hunting !!!!
