  • Golden uMax w/possible MISTAKE

Here is a pic of the inside of a particular Golden uMax. There is a transistor that looks out of place. I compared it to 2 other circuit boards, but am now thinking of removing it.

I need opinions on this as to whether or not to remove the little thing.

the machine is acting up, and it started when a coil got wet and caused the machine to die.

It was sent to the factory, but it seems it wasn't corrected the way it was.

    Any thoughts?

There are 2 pix of the mistake, and 2 pix of antoher circuit board for comparison.

    Thanks for any input.

Can you markup the photographs so we can see what you're talking about?
Where is this out of place transistor?

      I can't mark the pix at this time. . . .

But on the top 2 pics, the center of the picture has the transistor.

The bottom 2 pics are of another circuit board for comparison. I am sure this component is there for no reason, and should be removed.

I will post new pics later on tonight.

As Near as I can tell from your pictures, it appears the transistor is there in All the Pictures.

Two pictures show a Surface Mount Transistor.
And the Other two pictures show a Regular Transistor, in a (T092 Pkg)

Yeah, looks like the lower photos show a revised PCB, show you might have an early model where they kludged in a late fix.

here is a pic with a pointer.

I wish I could take better close-ups becasue this part is NOT doing anything except causing a possible short between 2 other components.

Carl, you are right about the revisions of the boards.

                another angle

The pics I did take, and have in my e-mail are 1.3-1.5M in size, and zooming into these show better detail.
