  • ATiny-4

    Hi.
I am interesting to construct the ATiny4. As i readed at http://www.pulsdetektor.de/index.html ATiny4 can detect an object (max distance) at 2.8m with a coil 28cm. This distance with this coil is far better from any PI detector that i have made.
One problem for the time is the IC...HCPL3120. Does anyone knows where i can find it or if there is a similar one???
Or if anyone knows any problem of this detector please tell me.
Generally i want your opinion about this detector.
    Regards

    ...2.8m with a coil 28cm...!!!?

Even if it was from German - it is to much!

      Hello Geo

There is a forum on the same site, the people that have built the ATiny-4 give good results, I have ever had the plan to make it, made the layout in SprintLayout-4 , but never made the pcb , so there can be errors in the layout ! The original layout can also be used, but i found the pads to small.

      Best regards.

I agree. But for 28 cm coil if i will detect the half (1.4m) it is a good depth for me.
I have a practical way for the depth. As i have seen i can detect a big object at max distance equal to 3...4 times (very difficult x 5 times) the coil diameter.
        So 28 cm x 4 = 112cm, or 28x5 = 140cm.
This is the reason that i want to construct it

          Hi Ap.
          I have seen this forum.
Now about the pcb you can make the original pcb. They give the schematic and the one side pcb. But the big problem is the HCPL3120. I found some shops but they sell only big quantities. If you have any adress of eshop that have this IC please give it to me.
          Regards

            Hello Geo.

Your right, there are some parts that are not easy to get, the opto is for sale at Conrad.de , not cheap.

              Hi,
yes it's an insulated gate driver (2.0A rated output) for IGBT thing.

Here is datasheet. It's not easy to find and , as far as I know, it hasn't any direct replacement... so if one can't find it he must do another way... using e.g. some discrete components and ic to drive gate... then bypass the problem.

PS: mouser.com has it in dip8 and cost is $2.21 each so about 1.5eur each, but you have to make international order (they are in the USA... and Europe site will mail you stuff only if they have in stock there...otherwise from US... anyway you'll pay much more than 1.5eur about shipping).

                Hi Ap.
                Thanks for your reply.
There is a big problem............ i don't understand German so i will look for a English language shop.
                Anyway... thanks
                Regards.

                  Hi Max.
I will try to order from mouser.com. The problem is not the cost but some shops wants a minimum quantity of order. If there is ps a min price 30euro there is not any problem. But i found a shop with min price order of 100$...... a big price for me who want to buy only one chip.
Anyway i will try to buy it and some other special IC's
                  Regards

What problem is this with components !!!!!!
I must order from 3 shops, so to buy 3 IC's.
I saw at mouser.com. Ohh very good, i found the HCPL3120. I put 3 parts in the basket and i asked for a ICL7660. Not in stock???????? It is not possible i said. I asked for a ATTINY15L. Not in stock?????????
I asked for a LF442. Ohhh yes it returned it....... but no.... it was a maybe similar to LF442.
                    What is happens????
                    I went to Conrad.de.
                    About the same.
HCPL3120........ Ohhh yes, more expensive but it had it.
Ok. Now time for ICL7660. Not in stock
Never mind i said. Lets look for ATTINY15L. Ohh yes it had it. But ohhh not at DIP8 socket.
I dont know what to do. I want to order all my components from one shop. Where is the bad????
                    But it is so difficult
                    Regards
Ohh Ap i just saw your email about components. Thanks

Digikey.com has all your items except the HCPL3120.

Why you don't use directly transistor like this circuit:

You have right but i want to make it exactly as is because it says that can detect at very large depth so i want to be sure for the components when it will not detect at this depth
