  • LM318 Voltage

    Hi all,

I read the LM318 data sheet and found that it operates from supplies of +-5V to +-20V.

I am currently using one in my PI with +-4V supply rails. It works OK.(sensitivity is excellent)

    Does it matter anything ?

    Best regards,

    Ηι 1843.
If it works OK then no problem. At 4V maybe some characteristics to not be the same as at the table of datasheet.
But if it work perfect ?????????

The internal bias for the transistors will be improper if its less than 5V, lets ask carl publicly in this forum,
The LM318 input bias /cutin voltage is 0.7 for ant bipolar base inputs, if we apply 10microvolt signal where is the bias coming from, the layout of internal schematic of LM318 doesnt show any biasing. Lets ask this to carl tyoo

        Hi Geo,

I will operate it by +-5V to see that the sensitivity becomes more or not.

        Best regards,

            Hi Geo,

I tried it... sensitivity was the same... I also tried other opAmps like LF357 with +-3.5V, they all worked without any problem.

            Best regards,
