As I see in the drawing you create the gap of shielding precisely opposite by the point that leads the utmost inductors.
Exists some particular reason for this?
Personally me it serves to create it in the point that leads utmost the inductor.
I wait for answer.

I've made like in the drawing many times; also I've made in other way... putting gaps on the bottom side near the sharp "curve" of windings both sides... so with a distance between them that is less than in the drawing you posted.

Personally I think that it's not a great issue... I mean I have e.g. 10'' coils made both way and they work about the same on soil...I mean very good and stable that , at the end, is what we need on coils.

What to say... I think most important is that gaps are there... that shields are not in electrical contact if not by the unique wires that go to gnd point... that gaps are not too large so better using 1cm or less for them... not positions for them.

I'm not totally sure that it changes nothing there... but I'm sure of effects ... and so I can say that by practice there's no particular reason to make that way or another.

Hi Max.
And my opinion is same with your. Simply I was puzzled because he passes the foil above utmost and he does not create there the gap. Even if my laboratory is still late, I began the manufacture of inductor for the TGS.
In the placement of foil i use other technique. I do not wrap it round the inductor, but i cut a band of thickness 2cm and length as long as they is the perimeter of coil, and after it i stretch in the coil , i fold to the means and afterwards I wrap it with isolating tape.
