  • PI with Ground balance

    HI all
IS there a PI detector that I can make .. that have good ground balance please..
and can detect small gold.. I heard HH is good but ground balance not good.
Is there another one that is as good as HH or better that Can make.

      Hi Henry,

Right now, there are no PI projects that have a form of ground balance built in. Now, if you built the HH project, you could build a ground canceling coil that will minimize the ground signal in most areas and under most conditions. This would allow you to hunt in many areas for gold.

There is a some depth loss but it isn't that much when searching for gold like we have here in the US. So, it is a project with merit.

What about the Goldscan 4? I thought the Goldscan 4 was supposed to have ground cancelling ability, although maybe not 100% effective.

It takes four samples per transmit interval, allowing two levels of guard channel subtraction instead of the usual one.

There was a PCB posted a few ways ago, although it probobly should be double checked for completeness.

I am trying to get a 6V version layout completed (using LT1931 switcher to derive -12V).

Maybe this doesn't qualify as a "project" but it deserves more attention.

If you do build it, be sure to swap Q1 and Q2 and reverse their polarity, or else the +5V generator circuit won't function.

The GS 4 is an Eric Foster design that someone copied. Yes, it does ground balance and does a decent job of it. I didn't consider this as a project because it never has had everything posted that I know of, plus the design is somewhat old and does need some updated mods for the best results.

Also, the design basically belongs to Eric. It is up to him whether he wishes to release it or not, in my opinion.
