Many thanks for your reply..The pot i am refering to is the recieve pot..My machine gives iffy signals on certain low conductive targets like small Roman coins etc.But good high tones on higher conductive items..The machine does this even with the disc set to zero..I have been told this is wrong.Disc setting number 2 is where most folks runs this machine without loosing the small targets..The pot looks a little damaged..I need advice to the item number etc which would enable me to get a new pot and thus fit it..
      Again many thanks

Sorry i still do not understand? Pot is potentiometer? Right? All potentiometers are presented on photo.
Usually i worked with disc set up at "3" to "5". But sensitivity at Musketeer is certain issue here. If adjusted belllow "5" it will loose some depth. Other hand if adjusted above "7" it will start to work erratically on most of soils.
Adjusted to "6" and Disc to "3" works perfect on smaller coins. If coins made from bronze you will have best, sharpest audio. Other metals will give more blur audio. Worse would be Ag coins (small), it will produce very mum and doubled audio, something like "beeeep--beep". First "beep" longer and just after it decays another short "beep".
Au coins (small) will produce really the worst audio, bairly recognizeable. Very soft, mum "bllleeeep", once, not twice time.
Deep coins (18-25cm deep) will produce soft, blur and equal "beeep" once.
Sometimes it can confuse small deep coins with deep medium iron, but not so often.
Musketeer is very good detector. After knowing it better you will realize how hot machine you have. Real coin killer.
All the trick is to remeber those "beeps" and its decays, pauses and lasting.
        Regards!

Oh there is another thing here; if you open device you will notice dil connector which conecting front panel and pcb. Now...that connector is also issue here. They put ordinary connector there with very low quality lock (on some models without lock).
It is not rare case that connectro to "leave" its proper position and ocassionaly loose some contact. Check it twice. Check for good conections there. I glued it with super glue, never to be displaced any more.
Ever since i had no problems with it!
That connector is bad thing on Advantage series! You can bet on it .... if you want to loose bet!

Many thanks for you great help....Very good tips with regards to the settings..I really like this machine.....

Just realized also..Mine is the Musketeer XS..The older model to the Advantage..Just realized i'd forgotten to add that

Musketeer Colt,XS,XS Pro and Advantage are all the same. Differences are only in pots on front panel. As you can see on posted photo, it is Colt version with fixed presets. It would be easy job to mod it to become XS/XS Pro.
Only difference i spotted at Advantage is larger pcb inside. Actually same old pcb but with larger dimensions (more free, unused space arround).
So when we speak about one version, it covering all versions actually.
Nice detector. I had a lot of nice finds with it.
