Anyone running A Minelab Excliber?

I was wonder if there is any one that is using a Minelab Excaliber and could help me out. Pryor to purchasing my Excaliber I was using a Fisher 1280X. I'm of course new to the Excaliber and I feel some what behind the learning curve with the machine. I've noticed when working the beach with the Excaliber I'm not finding the small targets I did with my 1280X. By small targets I mean the little gold backings for pierced earings. Not that it was my goal, but I found these fairly regularly with the 1280X. I have not found even one with the Excaliber which just seems strange. The Excaliber has a 10 inch coil the 1280X had a 8 inch coil. Could coil size make that much difference? are the machines just that different? or I'm I just setting the Excaliber up wrong and missing the smaller tragets? When I work beaches I'm familiar I don't mind picking up the small stuff and tend to dig almost everything if the area isn't real trashy.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
