  • pulse starII problem !!!

    I've pulse star II with its four coils:1mx1m, 45", 28", 17".....
and after 2 years of experience,i wonder if there is any possibility to change these coils by an antenna or something similar but not a coil, bkoz 1mx1m is very large and detects everything in large area........so plz could anybody offer a help.............thanks in advance

    Hi,
the pulsestar has also some smaller coils and a small round probe (for holes , pinpointing etc): these are often not included in the standard detector stuff you buy when at dealer.

I think you could buy the smaller coil of 10'' if I remember well and the probe (2.5cm diameter) if you need them.

Making good custom coils for PSII is possible but you have to be sure about expecially inductance required then follow e.g. the bbsailor article on fast monocoils to have some clue about what to do with shielding...

    Kind regards,
    Max

      Hi Max
      thank you for replying....
i really appreciate ur answer ,i know that there exist other coils, but what i want to know is : if there any monocoil in the form of antenna (like a locator)...
anf this antenna can go deeper and very sensitive to large object( i think)...bey

        Hi,
must be always a coil. You can shape it in various ways and also keep unshielded but have to match expected inductance.

I've made some tests with powerful PIs and got I can detect easy large stuff at 1meter distance on air... and coins and real impressive distances of half a meter and more but problem is that I don't understand if you wanna use PSII like an LRL or something similar...

If so I don't know if you can take advantages by a small e.g. monocoil ...on PSII

Sure you'll get lot of problems from this approach and I don't know if could be used for LRL purposes.

So far many LRL/locators are proposed and many approaches, but none gave real and repeatable results... so I dubt anybody could answer your question in scientific terms.

        Kind regards,
        Max

You can possibly burn PS II, playing like that! Beware!
No chance to use antenna shaped coil and achieve better detection. Only way i can imagine it is to use cylinder shaped coil (narrow diamm.) to stick it to holes, where ordinary coil can not fit. And even than you will have noticeable decreased detection.Bairly few inches from "coil" peak.
I've done simillar experiments with simplier, cheaper PI design. It is working but very bad and close. Suitable only (like i said) to stick it to hole and check closer. Forget that experimenting with PS II....or say bye,bye to it!
