  • T/R

It looks to be a 4 wire T/R coil. I read somewhere that Fisher got his original detector idea from a change in radio signal while flying above large metal structures. T/R is probably the only thing that Fisher ever made. I don't think I have ever seen a Fisher BFO. It would be easy enough to trace out but I just want to sell this one to a classic collector. The model # is T 10-X.

    • I traced it enough now to see that it is a T/R. The 3V4 plate is wired to one center tapped winding on the coil as a hartley oscillator and the other winding on the coil is connected from ground to the signal grid on the first 1U4. The other 3 1U4s are also coupled as cascaded gain stages.

This was actually a good working detector with the exception of the cheap case and the use of 9V batteries. Anyone who designs a detector that uses 9V batteries should be shot, lol. When tested beside other more expensive brand detectors this one maintained full depth with the discriminator turned all the way up but the others lost depth with discrimination. I would like to put these electronics in a better case with 8 AA batteries some day.

You are bidding on a Nautilus DMC-11-B Metal Detector. It is in good condition and works. Headphones have been taped near end of cord.

            http://cgi.ebay.com/Gold-Mountain-Sc...item19c26fea8d

Up for auction is a nice used metal detector. It is made by Gold Mountain, also known as GMT (makers of the popular 1650). The model up for bid is the Gold Scorpion....very rare. The detector runs at a frequency of 15khz,which is good for relics and jewelry. All Gold Mountain Tech detectors run quiet in iron (in Disc mode). Knobs include:: disc, sensitivity, manual ground balance, and all metal/disc mode toggle. Has external speaker and headphone jack. The arm rest and stand is metal. Included is the 4 inch snipper coil, great for extreme trashy areas. Uses 8 aa batteries. Not sure of the value of this detector ....this is a no reserve auction. Detector works good. I did notice that the lower rod is actually a White's brand.....coil fits on with no modification. Check out our other auctions. Thanks

On Jan-15-11 at 07:44:11 PST, seller added the following information:

Hello, I wanted to note that I don't have the owners manual. The main title in the listing reads::: w/ manual GB.....(with manual ground balance). I usually recommend that possible winners do an internet search for the item I listed, however you won't find much on this particular model. I believe GMT had 7 models. The Gold Scorpion and Thunder Stick are hardly ever seen. The coils off the King Cobra or 1650 will interchange with the Scorpion. Thanks

Each time i see something like that - my hearth is also broken.
That's why i don't visit ebay so often.
I would like to have hundreds of those!

That one is very interesting to me!
I am in mood to do reverse ee on it!
But... it will need much better macro's and further cooperation from you.
If you decided to help and have enough spare time; we can do it together!
Or... if someone already have schematic from it - please share!
It would be nice if you would least measure it's coils properties and post here!

Sorry guys I sold it (needed the cash). BTW I got £250 just for the PARTS only!

Would like to see the schematic for that some day!

I have some inside photos....BUT..they would not be of much help,as most of the components have been painted over (no chip numbers etc etc)
                          Far safer than any patent
He was a very secretive guy (Vic...who died a couple of years ago).
His later machines had sealed control box's.
Each machine was made/sold at home by him--never in any shops.

                            Don't worry about components labels.
We can try to figure those out somehow.
What's more important is we to have accurate pcb traces.
Take a close shots (macros) of pcb, both sides.
                            Give here photos.
I will redraw it in more suitable format and give it back here.
Than you can write on it measured values of resistors etc..
Once we finish that, don't worry, i will figure out IC labels with no effort at all.
That's how we can reverse ee on it.
Winter is coming, lot of spare time.
We can make it, if you want!
Just make those close shots for now.
                            Cheers!
