    • superchuckles,

I emailed you on the Compass forum but I will answer you here. R 1000 and R1003 are pots that appear to be 15K and set near midway.

      C1000 is a 470pf and C1001 is a 103 or a 01uf.

I double checked my 320 and the parts are the same as on the 420.

And that all the devices are adulterated.
Please if you have a complete circuit of the detector is tested send me.

              • Here are the PCB pics of descovery2
Amtech2005 refers to it on post 29 and kt315 on post 59.
I recently bought the detector without the coil.
I removed the rotary switch and the pots so I can make a better picture showing the components underneath.
Perhaps someone can find them usefull

                • Oddly, these look very much like Bounty Hunter Detectors with the Rat Shack name affixed.....

I had the Tracker IV from Bounty Hunter and the Discovery 1000 from Radio Shack. Same detector.

                          • Red heat lightning 4

                            hey guys,
old thread, but here is a couple of photos of RedHeat Lightning 4 coil insides.

I have opened the coil easily with a scalpel. I did it to check what is wrong with the coil, it false signals on hits and pressure. No obvious reasons found.
You can see the build quality.
Never the less, search characteristics are great and iron see through is very good.

I now plan to make a coil by myself, following this method http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...or-Very-simply. OO form (Nexus style).

                            • nice realisation and example for a diy type coil imo. i believe redheat is a clone of tesoro-similar schematics.

                              • I have an old discovery 2000 with 3 tone discrimination. Works well on the beach in wet sand with waterproof coil. Low tone for gold high tone for silver middle tone for nickel
