  • Changing the frequency on Whites Detector

    Hello everyone,

I have a Whites 5000-D detector and I would like to modify for this higher frequency project. Presently it runs at 6.59 khz. How do I modify it to run, lets say from 18.5 to 21 khz? I have some knowledge of electronics and believe this would work. Any insights, past projects, or comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    TC-NM

Practically, it can't be done. First, the coils probably won't work, so you would either have to build custom coils or adapt some other coil to the detector. Second, all the filtering would have to be redesigned for the higher frequencies. You can usually adjust a detector frequency by a few percent, but not 200%.
