    VERY SIMPLE PI METAL DETECTOR

This is probably the Best choice and easiest to build with a lot of Power !!!!!! CD4584 on the PCB board is the CD40106 on the schematic. You can wind a 8,11,or 16 inch search-coil......This information and some more photos of the Barracuda detector will be posted on the "Old Forgotten Metal Detector" thread today or tommorrow........Good Luck with building your P.I............Eugene

        VERY SIMPLE PI METAL DETECTOR

For now we just scratch Barracuda off the list. I guess the original Barracuda schematic has errors too !! Not to worry , there are a few schematics left.. Like this one from the year 2000...........But does it work ???? I have not heard any test results yet ....Geo , have you seen or built this circuit ???.....Eugene

I have been searching for this IC too, to repair equipment using sockets, so i wanted same case, but impossible everywhere.
But plenty of them with different case.I think it was LM358 or 741?

            Fred.

Mr. Unregistered , LM709 ??? No Problem !!!! Texas Instrument .......OPA237 or TLE2021 and are better than the original. I will keep looking for more substitutes , you always have options when it comes to i.c. Chips. Unless you are building some old "Dinasaur"...........Have a Good Day............Eugene

Impossible to find the LM709 there ??? No big news...

Well... it's "a bit" obsolete now... probably you're right.

Maybe there's no electronic shop in all the EU that has still one!

try this: NE5534 works much better

                    Kind regards,
                    Max

                          Use LM318 instead the 709.

                          Regards

                          Esteban

I was looking for a lm309 equivalent with package:this was the problem.
To repair a 18ghz sweeper supply, that uses a lot of them and sockets.
                            regards,
                            Fred.

                              VERY SIMPLE PI METAL DETECTOR

Fred , What your looking for is very Rare now!!! I found a couple of items , for now here is one you know of , it is the national semicondutor LM318H. The LM309 comparitor Version you are looking for is almost History. The 3 pin 5 volt regulator "LM309 has taken over its spot. I am re-checking the NTE cross reference because nte922 or nte910 might be what your looking for also , but I can't remember off hand . Altzheimers.....I will search again tommorrow.........Eugene
