    Who knows about performances of the Teknetics T2TM?

    Regards

    Found in the manual that this MD shows in display mineralization grade of soil. If show less 40, you not need to adjust ground cancellation, but over 40 you need to adjust. Here the manual.

      Teknetics T2TM

      Esteban , I am trying to find the link of the T-2 field test that was comparing it with the fisher F-75 and the bi-axial coils. It was from the U.K. and there was a slight problem with the T-2 so the factory made a software or circuit modification ???? I am trying to find the link. Unless someone knows already , I will find the one page of information. There is no schematic of course !!! But wait until you read the information before you make a purchase or try to get one. I am looking for that u.k. link now.....other forum member comments are welcome........Eugene

        Is u-processed MD. Designer is David Johnson and program writer is Gardiner, expect Gardiner Jr. If really is good (a coin at 15 inches), price reduction of US$ 200 also is good (999 to 799).

        Have a friend is crazy for obtain it, but I told him we need more info from customers or chart table. Teknetics page:

              Esteban , Here is another link. I do not care for the "Fisher" brand for several reasons. If I were to choose between detectors it would be the Teknetics T-2 and not the Fisher F-75 !!!!! I also think that both the teknetics T-2 and the Fisher F-75 are overpriced by approximately $200 , "two hundred u.s dollars". Remember this posting is just my personal opinion. Anyway this link is for comparison only !!!!Not to sell a Fisher product. Not to make anyone mad.But Fisher is known to completely miss "Targets"....Here is the link and then scroll down to the comparison test between the two detectors http://www.fisherf75.com/index.html Take care all.........Eugene

                When I spoke of Fisher missing target's , I was referring to the all the "older" Fisher Model's that the Good Targets were always masked by junk target's . The Teknetics T2 , and especially the Fisher F-75 worked on a Design that the good targets were Detected right through a Cluster of Junk and garbage...I will post here just a little more information and a few photo's. We do know NOW , that both were designed by the same Engineer.The Teknetics T2 model was a 13 khz vlf I.B. The Teknetics name has roots to George Payne the legendary designer , his circuit designs help develop the visual I.D. systems for Bounty Hunter. 1st texas bought Teknetics and later bought Fisher. One year later the Fisher F-75 , 13 khz vlf was introduced , 20 % deeper than the Teknetics T-2 . The T2 and F-75 were both designed mainly by Dave Johnson . The software of the F-75 was written mostly by John Gardiner. I will try to post a "depth test" comparison of the 2 detector's later on. I start to dislike a Metal Detector company when "company Management" , or sales director's push out 100s maybe 1000's of the cheapest Model's and "FLOOD THE MARKET" and then "over price' their Top-of the Line models. Whites detectors out of Oregon seems to always keep the number of their current detector's in production at a reasonable level. Minelab does the same . They both "KEEP IT SIMPLE" !!! And they do not flood the market with $99.00 dollar detector's !!!....And because of that , they are very successfull.....................Eugene

                  Hi Esteban,
                  I have been hunting with a T2 for the past 8 months. I found the Fisher F-75 manual is more detailed instructions for using the T2. You can ignore any features in the F75 manual that are not found on the T2. But from personal experience, I can tell you how I use the T2.

                  First, you will get extra amplification if you set the discriminate level to over 45. So I usually set it for 50, then switch to all metal mode to hunt for all metals with higher amplification. I seldom use discriminate mode because it is easily fooled, and I can see what metals I am finding in the all metal mode by watching the screen.

                  I use the automatic ground balance most of the time. The ground I hunt is usually between 80 and 97 on the scale, and I readjust the level every few minutes. But when I get to black sand or damp ocean sand, I see the automatic level drop lower. When the auto ground balance sees soil lower than 40 it will stop making automatic settings. So you must manually set it.
                  In damp ocean sand, I often set it somewhere between 8 and 15, and I find the depth is much less than when in dry soil with settings of 80-97. I have used the T2 over ocean sand that was submerged in a 1 inch layer of water, which required me to set it to a level of 2 or 3, and I got a depth of maybe 2 inches to find a US quarter. Dry sand with a layer of black magnetic sand on it has a similar effect.

                  When hunting in heavily mineralized soils or salt water, I recommend using a PI detector or maybe a minelabs VLF designed for this, not the T2. The good thing about the T2 is that for good soils, it has been able to find silver and gold targets next to small iron trash. I see both targets on the screen. You will also see the all metal mode will show all targets on the screen so you know what you found even in all metal mode. The F75 is supposed to be an improved version of this, but I doubt the differences are worth the difference in price.

                  Here are the settings I usually use when I turn on the T2:
                  1. power on
                  2. Auto ground balance
                  3. switch to discriminate mode and set for
                  sensitivity=90
                  disc level = 50
                  tones = 2+
                  4. switch to all metal mode and set for
                  sensitivity = 90
                  hum level = +2
                  Then go hunting in the all metal mode and watch the screen to see if you want to dig a target.

                  You can always make adjustments to the levels if they don't suit you. I sometimes use the discriminate mode if I am finding a lot of trash, and I get tired of listening to constant beeping.

                  Here is a story from last year:
                  I was hunting along a beach that had a 4-inch layer of black sand hidden under a 1-inch layer of regular sand high in the dry area. There was a lot of untouched targets under the black sand. My White's Surf PI Pro would not see through this thick layer of sand. It was making erratic beeping whenever the layer thickness changed. I used the T2 and found it would not auto ground balance. So I set the ground balance to 4 and I found it would not give a signal unless I raised it 4 inches above the sand. But it was detecting targets under the black sand. I found that afternoon a lot of trash from ages ago, and some US silver coins that dated back to 1923.

                    Thanks very much. So, if I wish to catch valuable finds, need to use in all metal mode... and watch all the time screen!!! Maybe you lost your time!!!
