  • Fisher CZ- 20

Hi, a friend of mine, has the Fisher CZ-20 for sale on U$600.
My question is how good is this detector.
I know is a VLF, two frequencies, good for hunting under water, etc.
Does anyone have anycomments or expirence with it to tell?
    Regards
    Nelson

    Hi Nelson

I have the CZ20,and is much better than other underwather detectors.
In the beach jewlry hunting you can find realy deep targets,no false signals. In dry land, mineralized ground reduce the power.
Its my best MD on the beach

    Regards

Thanks Morgan, that´s good news to me.
What about has a coin and relic hunter, and also how is the drain of the four 9 volts batteries?
        Discrimination, is good too?
        Regards

I also need the owners manual, cose i already brougth the CZ-20
I just took the risk, but i think is a good machine.
The only thing that complies me, is that use four 9 volts bateries. May be this can be fix by connecting one 12 volt lead hacid batterie, and split voltages or just use rechargables batteries
            Regards

It uses four 9v battery, the drain is 40 hours or even more if you use alkalines.
Is an excelent coin and relic hunter capable to detect 2Euro coin buried in wet sand 40cm deep, very good device also in mineralised soil(use the ground balance) but in wet sand condition is my best MD,NEVER DECEIVE ME,IS THE BEST,simple to use, very stable, already found is weigth in GOLD beach jewlry!!!
I dont have schematics, try to buy one second hand who woks fine, thats my advice.

I always uses CZ 20 with minimum DISCRIMINATION,its easy to ear the sound of iron ( GRAVE sound Brrrr) and heavy or large coins or big objects (NORMAL sound Biiiipp) and tiny jewlry or little coins tiny shape ( OTHER sound like Booopp). Sensitivity is to use near the limit if the ground conditions are good.I also make sucessful search underwater with CZ20,much better than Aquanaut,Excalibur or others...

                Regards

Disc. is very good but if you put to reject the pulltabs you loose some tiny jewlry,so better not use more than minimum Disc. unless you are searching in very trashy areas.

                        Thanks Morgan and Amtech2005.
My CZ-20 is working very good, on the weekend i tried two smal parks that was previusly search with, ace250, goldbug2, and homebrew tesoro golden sabre. The result, lots of coings of diferent sizes and one silver star, with the face on gold of Jesus Crist. This was at 25 centimeters underground.
When i get the oportunity to reach the beach, i ll post my results.
Now i m traing to meade a chest support for the control unit, cause this weigths a little.
Antech2005, can you tell me where to find those photos.
                        Regards

Hello , Sounds like your New Detector is working very well !!! Let us know how it works through trashy areas and difficult soil. I searched for a schematic with no luck. The only schematic was the CZ5 , a hand drawing from the late Jackdetect . I am just searching for the CZ20 pcb "Circuit board photos" from about 2 years ago. I hope they are still around??.......Have fun with your Machine !!...............Eugene

                            Hi

My CZ20 comes with one support to put on the belt. If you dont have, its possible to make one in aluminium.
When you go to the beach hunting prepare for big holes, realy deep targets

Ok Morgan and thanks for that advice. Indeed i was thinking on how to do that support.
                              More later.
                              Thanks
