  • AC/DC adapter specs for Minelab Excalibur?

Hi there. Would anybody happen to know the specs on Minelab's Excalibur AC/DC battery charger adapter?. I just picked up an and Excalibur without the adapter. There an electronics shop around the corner with a large 3'X3' box full of adapters for sale. I thought there might be a chance I could find one with closely matching specs if i knew what they were. Any help would much appreicated.
    Thanks.

      Excalibur 1000

The battery specs say its 12V, 600mA/Hr so it's probably going to be around 14volts 50ma-100ma but, I would hate to damage the battery pack so, hopefully someone could tell me exactly. Thanks for now.

AC/DC adapter specs for Minelab Excalibur?

Sean , After researching for a while . You are Correct !! The calcuations are at a 10% factor x 1.4 "times 1.4" . Which translates to 84 milliamps max current. [.084 amps] for 10 hours . 12 volts is correct voltage of course. Put a timer on your charger for 8 hours just to be safe. And do not forget , most important is Correct Polarity , Do not Reverse Polarity !!! + to + and - to -. So a 70 to 90 m.a. charger is good . 100 m.a. maximum !!!. And a carefull volt meter reading when its charging should say 13.8 to 14.2 volts d.c. !!!! If you want to fast charge , which will reduce your batteries total life and which I do not recommend , you will have to purchase or build a "Fast Charge" with safety-Shut Down !!!! So , buy a 12 volt charger with a miximum rating of 100 m.a. , If the batteries get hot or too warm too fast shut it down , it is telling you your charger you just bought is not operating at its printed specs !!! Also a D.C. milli-amp meter in series between load and charge circuit would be helpfull just at the beginning to verify everythings O.K. And do use a Timer if you have one !!!!..................You did acquire a Great detector , and this should help you get it charged correctly...........any other comment's are welcome....................Eugene
