  • Compass 94B AA to 9 volt conversion

Hi there. I just received a compass 94B that has "modded" to use 2 9Volts . It doesn't look like any other components have been changed, unless it was done some time ago, no obvious new solder. The circuit seems to be handling it and works great. Should I leave it or convert back to the AA's ?
Most of the electronicx circuts of the late 1960's to early 1970's were possible of being + or - 20% on average but some much worst. They were also usually able to handle much more than specs for example those of you who remember the great early RCA tubes such as the 6L6GT or rated for 250-300volts but many companies ran them up into the 500+volts range. designed to dissipate 12-15 watts but were pushed to saftly to 25Watts per tube. I would imagne these should be any different. Voltage is the same at 9volts but would just have a short life and more available amperage. True?

    Hi,
if works good ... no need to change back to AA. What about consumption ? Did you notice there's too much drain for the 2 9v batteries... cause, othewise, leave them there.

    Kind regards,
    Max
