What is the chance that the faulty technology in the latest gpx4500 detector has found its way into minelabs anti mine detectors! I have read on another site that by using a faulty detector and not detect a mine you could be blown up. I hope this has not happened.

I don't know... but maybe lamebin stuff... like someone said... is not that special at the end of the day!
Well, there are real PEARLS from there.... but some... uhm better avoid one for most modern landmines.
Also mines today have so small metallic content... some have NO METAL inside... that would be a real suicide hunting for them with an MD in a modern minefield, I mean.
If the scenario is Cambodia or Afghanistan you'll be ok with a traditional set for demining... a good MD I mean, but if something "fresh" style... wow... you'll be busted using one there, lamebin expecially I think!
Kind regards,

this is not correct...
when you sell an MD as mine detector it's obvious that you take care of searching for metallic content in mines.
If you know that the mines there are without any metal you MUST not use the MD there. Really simple.
In some actual demining sets the MD is an hybrid type that has a small GPR antenna at coil, you could use them also in no-metal minefields, cause they give you the resolution required at few cm from soil.
They are slow, heavy and not so easy to use but could really be employed safely in such operations.
So... the problem is that some operators could ignore there are full-non-metallic mines and try to use the simple MD anyway, obtaining a big blast!
Or ,with other words they lack of training...
That's why more important than device is training you must provide to demining operators before let them go for real demining stuff.
Kind regards,
Max

Do you know about it ?

Don't know about the detector you refer. Regarding German IIWW, I found in internet. Also I want "nazi" MD schematics for curiosity but can't found! But if I find some interesting, I'll let you know.
