  • My 4 wheeler quad bike Spectrometer\Magnetometer survey

it's a quick way of getting a lot of kilometers fast!
i had a spectrometer on the front and magnetometer mounted on an 3 meter aluminium ladder mounted at the rear to hold the mag sensor in a floating rubber housing i made to stop the shock on the sensor and unit when i hit a bump.
spectrometers stood up well on it's rubber mounts and i didn't crack any crystals despite the abuse we put it under.
i had 2 quad bikes , 2 spectrometers ,2 magnetometers and one base mag.
results were far better then i could ever have imagined but correction needs to be made on the data.
did not not expect the magnetism data would change depending on the direction of travel.
30nt more if i go north on a line , south on the same line is 30nt less.
that surprised me and cause extra work nightly.
one 4 wheeler quad bike with the whole system was only 40nt higher in magnetism then the other .. easily corrected.
average speed was 10Km per hour per bike depending on terrain .. no more then 20.

if anyone is curious i could supply photos of the bikes and Geosoft images
    next week.

    2 Pico-Envirotec Gis-10 Spectrometer
3 GSM 19T DGPS Gemsystems magnetometers

it was a fun experiment for me , i had people telling me it's impossible.
we got some real good and interesting data out of it.
Working...
