    Hi Esteban,
for depth pinpointer what about the schematic you posted (somewhere) that has 2 ferrites ? I mean the one with 3 npn transistors, 2N3903.

Did you try it ? I made in a hurry but mine doesn't detect at far... just an hammer at 2cm for now... but I used a single ferrite and wound a messy coil in a hurry...I get anyway a very sharp needle response in that short range.

Any details about coils for it ?

    Kind regards,
    Max

i made my pinpointer out of this thing

preety good sensivity 2 - 3 cm, but deam this thing is huge
i attached small vibrator from mobile phone directly to the speaker and installed switch, also made push button trigger

        Hi,
I like it... stud detectors are good for that... I made also one, but it's "lost" ...I mean I borrow it to a friend...and never come back!

My was smaller and yellow thing... but detection was never up 1+1/2''... good but not as good with smaller stuff.

        Kind regards,
        Max

Hey Max, I also have the Uniprobe (PI) which has excellent depth but the weight of the headphones is not agreeable to me plus sometimes it would have interference problems for no known reason and it is expensive. I think they made it too hot, just on the verge of stability. I used it for about a year but went back to my Whites 120 which I have had some 8 years or so. I have had to replace the switch on it several times but it still works, it only gets average depth of pinpointers.
          Regards,
          Steve

You can see detection here. Few people note the sensitivity of this.

              Hi,
right, some will not notice that...so I explain why it's important notice it instead...from pictures I see it's really good pinpointer... good detection on small stuff, large on big steel target: that's the way to avoid missing the good stuff.

In some situations is really important having some extra depth of detection.

In normal pinpointing operations one will find the target (elusive) in the removed soil... passing the ferrite horizontal to the soil till find the area with target, then rising up 90° the ferrite so using just the tip of it to center the hot spot.

But often is not that easy... the above happens mostly with shallow targets and well centered holes... in other cases the obejct is deeper and centering with main MD is more complicated, so it's easy that the hole is not well aligned on target: that's situations where an extra depth will solve fast and easy.

Instead of removing much soil... and being crazy if the obejct is on sides/walls one just use the pinpointer... like the Skil... and find his way to the target. Save time, save work, SAVE THE ITEM too... cause I see and dug myself broken stuff cause of eccessive force applied in excavation and bad centering...

That's why the extra depth is always a plus on pinpointers...that will take you out of troubles in critical moments... and I think the above is one of these.

              Kind regards,
              Max

                    Hi,
the first is an MD, like the ones we see in other pinpointers, it's interesting.

I cannot open the first file, maybe need some particular reader version ???

Can you extract just schematic in a gif ?

The last one is a capacitive kind detector, not good for metals but good for finding e.g. power lines.

                    Kind regards,
                    Max

                      Hi Max,

I had the same problem with first pdf. It should be ok this way; try to open the attached file.

                        Hi,
thanks. It's another simple and interesting schematic for small DIY pinpointer.

I think I'll make it too...

                        Kind regards,

                          Hi...
I am going to make a pinpointer for coin hunting...
Can I use this circuit for coin hunting?Which one did it?

                          Regards...

Hi. Does anyone made this pinpointer?
What about distance range for coins?
I m drawing a small pcb for it.
