    Whites eagle

Geo or Carl , What is the correct operating , dc supply voltage of the whites Eagle , 4.5 or 6 volts dc ???? The rechargeable pack says 4.8 d.c. volts , and the other pack I have uses 4 "c" cells = 6 volts ?? I like to be very accurate on this , before I run my machine or buy other nicds........Thanks again..........I normally figure this stuff out , but I have no time to take this machine apart right now, and the spare time I have , I need to Metal Detect outside , and it is not raining right now......thank-you..........Regards...........Eugene

      Hi Eugene.
      Normally there are 2 packs.
One for rechargeable batteries 4.8v and one for alkaline batteries 6V. Both packs are OK.
Usually you must work with the rechargeable 4.8V pack and to have a spare 6V. But now that the rechargeable batteries are not so expensive, why to dont have a rechargeable pack for spare ???

I do have 2 different packs , But they work only on full voltage for a little bit of time , thats why I am upset !!! The chargeable works for 30 minutes and the battery pack last approximately 4 hours , to me that is not very good !! . Geo , I almost forgot , Do you remember correct VDI reading of Gold Rings ??? was it 13-23 range ??? Please let me know if you remember !!! Thanks again............Eugene

I think the Eagle has a voltage boost circuit that takes the battery up to a higher voltage... yours might have a problem.

Thanks Carl , What I will do is fix the recharge pack with new cells and add new alkalines in the battery pack , then I will test both packs and post the results of the run-times in hours/minutes...........also what buried gold and silver treasure I found.......Regards ...........Eugene/amtech/lost in California

                Whites Eagle , the Dinosaur

Hello Geo , there is a very good chance that this Detector has some "cold solder joints" Next monday when I am Detecting again with new battery packs , If chatter or un-stable bouncing of LCD display occurs, I am tearing it apart , , visual inspection and possible fresh solder Re-Work" . If not I will post some more coin depths and finds. I was told there is still lost jewelery here on this site where I am at !!............Bye for now, Regards..........Eugene

I tried the Eagle. For a gold ring VDI reading 15.... 18. I did not tried another ring. For a gold coin reading 38 and for 2 gold coins 58. A ferrite 20cm reading 82 and a soft iron tool 00. If you would like anything else i am here.

                    Whites Eagle , the Dinosaur

I guess when you have certain VDI numbers like in the 15 to 18 range , you must recover your target every time , no exceptions , I am learning this machine and I know eventualy it will pay for it self a hundred times over , Easy !!! I will report on everything again Monday night , after football !!!...............Eugene

                      Whites "Eagle"

I bought rechargeable cells yesterday and the Eagle still does not turn on . But with fresh alkaline @ 6.25 volts total , the machine works beautifull !! I took it apart and found no cold solder joints , the circuit board looks brand new !!! I found one 3 pin regulator IC , a BUZ-71A , I suspect it is the problem . I think correct "D.C. supply voltage" for the Eagle I , must be 4.5 volts but it is 22 years old so it needs over 6 volts to drive it ...........I am in a hurry to fix this machine , so I do not get frost bite outside under the Palm Trees ..................Regards.........Eugene

Hi Eugene. Try to see if it is the same schematic as Eagle spectrum.....
I believe that they have the same power suply

Hi Eugene. Schematic is from Eagle II but it is the same (95%). I checked the pcb of II series with mine (1987 or 1988 model, series I), and it is exactly the same except that there is a small IC more (as 741). Also maybe software has differences but this is not problem. I will send you the files. My wishes to you and to your Family for Mary Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year "2009".
