  • Sovereign GT tones help needed please

Hi. I have just aquired a Sovereign GT. Could anyone tell me how to adjust the trimmers on the board Please. This machine has been set up for beach work by the previous owner,in which he had it set up to give a single tone response for all targets. I have adjusted the trimmer pot marked 402 which alters just the pitch of the tones, but am not sure if the trimmer pot 401 would give me the multi tone responses for different conductivity targets.Any help anyone could give me would be most welcome

The pot you adjusted is the gain factor on the DAC0800 which drives the audio VCO.

You should have moved one of the jumpers. LK1 I think. Google "Sovereign Mods" there is a website which details how to do this and many other useful mods.

          Hi Ash,

All that pot does is expand or contract the VCO's range for different targets. That is to say it makes the high tones higher and the low tones lower ( this gives better audio discimination, or seems to, on SOME models) on others it just shifts the audio range up or down.
